Question About Amateur Gloves?

Post by bwadd21 »

Just ordered a few sets of comp. gloves from ringside, when they came in, they do not have the white knuckles. I noticed a couple of the other brands ( addidas, everlast) without the white..... is this the new thing now?

Yes no more white knuckle or laces. It was too hard for the equipment manufactures to sew on the white part without leaving a seam that could cause cuts. If they dyed the gloves , the dye would flake off getting in eyes. Besides the white part did not really help the judges see if the punch was good or a slap. You don't need the white knuckle to see a slap.
It's more of AIBA going more pro like with the coming of the 10 point scoring system and no headgear starting in 2016 and pros being allowed to box in the Olympics.

It shouldn't be a problem.
