Cruel And Unusual Punishment
Cruel And Unusual Punishment
I'm scoring Julio Cesar Chavez v Juan LaPorte and have it 96-94 Chavez, with 2 rds to go and can't find part 5 online.

That's because it never really happened.

Good fight, while it showed some of Julio's flaws he also demonstrated that he could box off of his back foot when needed.

.....watching ruiz "fight"...
Re: Cruel And Unusual Punishment
And with 2 rds to go and Chavez up by 2 on my card, and knowing there was no knockdown, I'm failing to see where Laporte deserved the win.

I've never heard anyone outraged by that decision or the one with Lockridge. They both showed that Julio was far from a wrecking machine at 130. I'd strongly favor guys like Morales, Pacquiao & Marquez over JCC at that weight.Seamus wrote:And with 2 rds to go and Chavez up by 2 on my card, and knowing there was no knockdown, I'm failing to see where Laporte deserved the win.

I've heard some people claim Laporte edged it, and if I remember correctly, I think Ring Magazine temporarily pulled Chavez's title after this bout.
Re: Cruel And Unusual Punishment
I reckon this qualifies as cruel and unusual punishment...Carlos Zarate knocks down Alfonso Zamora. He's on the canvas then his corner throws in the towel. The trajectory of said towel is such that it comes through the ropes at just above bottom rope height
It lands on Zamora's face with a fair amount of speed like the guy has thrown it at Zamora in disgust. The towel wraps itself around his head. The poor bastard has just been hammered then he has to worry about a face eating towel

115-114 Laporte for me. I gave Juan the 11th and JCC the 12th; 6-4-2 (minus point deduction). How could Ring have stripped Chavez's title? He wasn't the lineal champ at 130; it was Mitchell.Seamus wrote:I've heard some people claim Laporte edged it, and if I remember correctly, I think Ring Magazine temporarily pulled Chavez's title after this bout.
