Mate, I don't disagree with you in general. Yet in this instance I don't think that Blackwell, Conception, Cameron etc would provide much more of a test for Saunders than Bradley Pryce. Pryce never comes to lose, some nights he is better than others, but he gives it a go and has been in far deeper than the others. Saunders is still learning, and needs fights like Fridays to develop.
Too many belts/federations - absolutely. Too many good fights not being made - I agree. Just in this instance I think the fight made was perfectly fine.

Ryan Tank Aston will beat Billie Joe Saunders, he has the style to do it, Conception is retired now, but too chinny, Blackwell is not good enough and Cameron is not done anything yet to warrant his inclusion, Ryder is not quite there yet. Saunders is not yet good enough for the big boys, Barker Macklin and Murray, so will compete at national for a while, as he is still young.

Agree with most of that, although I haven't seen much of Aston yet. Plenty of people seem to rate him though..

Yep another middleweight prospect! but some of these middleweights need to start fighting each other

The English was fought for by 2 much lesser fighters, seems to me that the big promoters of these fighters are playing a game at present, whilst watching each other, we don't want to see too many fighters, past there sell by date fighting the young stars, lets see who is the best of the new talent, then push them on.mcato wrote:Agree with most of that, although I haven't seen much of Aston yet. How is training going for Nasser
Re: Ochieng vs Selkirk
Training has gone great, been sparring 3 fresh sparring partners, one after the other, also sparred an 85 Kilo beast and done lots of strength and power training to combat Dells rosa's strength, Nasser is a lot more muscular for this fight and still retaining the speed, tomorrow he spars Ryan Rhodes in preparation for Rhodes european title challenge, we have done hours of sparring and defense sparring, he also does sprints up a 19 floor block of flats, between 7 and 10 times, followed by 100 & 50 metre sprints on the track for stamina, he also does swimming sprints 3 times a week, along with 7 mile runs every day, circuits split between Speed and power, along with the usual bag work, pad work and skipping, we also use bag and Bar technique on certain days. Yes Nasser is ready for this fight and he needs to be, Della Rosa is the current WBC International champion and rated 11th in the WBC world rankings, his only defeat was a split decision loss to Zbik for the world title in Germany, whilst carrying a serious knee injury.mcato wrote:How is training going for Nasser
Re: Ochieng vs Selkirk
OK Saf why are you giving away all your training techniques? It sounds like Nasser will be ready to go. I saw Della Rosa on you tube and he looked very strong but very slow and clumsey. I think a Amir Khan approach, hit and move should do it!safeerah wrote:Training has gone great, been sparring 3 fresh sparring partners, one after the other, also sparred an 85 Kilo beast and done lots of strength and power training to combat Dells rosa's strength, Nasser is a lot more muscular for this fight and still retaining the speed, tomorrow he spars Ryan Rhodes in preparation for Rhodes european title challenge, we have done hours of sparring and defense sparring, he also does sprints up a 19 floor block of flats, between 7 and 10 times, followed by 100 & 50 metre sprints on the track for stamina, he also does swimming sprints 3 times a week, along with 7 mile runs every day, circuits split between Speed and power, along with the usual bag work, pad work and skipping, we also use bag and Bar technique on certain days. Re: Ochieng vs Selkirk
I know the fights you looked at, in them fights he was fighting at middleweight which slowed him down a bit, he is quick when he throws his hooks though, mainly to the body, he is also very well conditioned, your right speed is the key, hit and move, but we don't want to be on the back foot most of the time, Nas will need to take the centre and put Della Rosa on the back foot, with Italian officials, the key is Nasser's jab.mcato wrote:OK Saf why are you giving away all your training techniques?
