Lee Selby withdraws as the European mandatory challenger

Post by Horse »

Lee Selby has withdrawn as the European mandatory challenger for Miskirtchian. It seems like a strange move.

Are we allowed to link to BS.com?

They would normally go in the Boxing Scene sticky at the top of the page :TU:

Intresting news would love Smith to get the shot highly unlikely tho, with Selby wanting to win the British outright looks almost certain the rematch will happen and with the poor turn out in wales hopefully the fight lands in Liverpool

[quote="Casio"]I actually think this could be a good move.

Whilst Lee could beat the current Euro champ, he knows he'll be fighting good solid europeans in his defenses and he has admitted that he wants to get that British title for keeps and get some more competitive rounds in the bank in before he gets to that stage.quote]

I spoke to him recently and he was confident of beating Miskirtchian but belived he needed more seasoning before fighting some of the other top Europeans. The Interview is on here somewhere.

So normally we are not allowed to post BS.com links outside of the Boxing Scene thread?

We can post all other boxing site links though, can't we? I have forgotten what the rules are.

Isn't it stange how we react in different ways to different fighters ?
I can think of quite a few who would have been slaughtered on here as "avoiding, ducking" etc etc if they had turned down a Euro fight in these circumstances particularly having publicly craved for the chance earlier.

If he doesn't want to rush himself that's fair enough but Smith might end up leapfrogging him and getting the shot.

He could, which is why I think it is a strange move for Selby and I think it was the wrong decision.
