Career potential bomber or clev
Career potential bomber or clev
Who's career has more potential clev with fish eyes or could bomber upsurge him and carve out a more memorable career for himself if he joins matchroom? They're careers could almost pan out like a poorer mans calzaghe/Froch , clev the more complete boxer but bellew with the fights that everyone will be talking about???
Re: Career potential bomber or clev
I can see it going this way too. Cleverly wants the big fights but won't get them and will instead be stuck facing mandatory's, whereas bomber will be in tougher fights. I can see him potentially being worked towards a title shot for Cloud or Shumenov.

Re: Career potential bomber or clev
I have to be honest, I'm not sure Clev is the more complete fighter. He has good potential, but seems to have regressed over his last few fights. I didn't think much of Bomber the first few fights I saw of him. He seemed to be a guy who was in love with his power and had no plan B. But since changing his mindset he's shown he has very good skills and would say the only difference between Clev and Bomber when they fought was experience.
I think Bomber may have better potential. He spars with the best and will be in fights where he can have the opportunity to improve. Clev's dad seems pretty clueless at times in the corner and that's against WBO milkmen and plumbers. If things stay as they are I would say Bomber will improve the most and have the better career.

Re: Career potential bomber or clev
I agree with this. Cleverly does things his own way and needs someone who will be harsh on him in the gym, i wouldn't say his father is a bad trainer as he has other fighters who are competent but rather he isn't experienced enough to train someone at clev's level now. I think Bomber will create the better legacy, however if clev got a coach in that made him box, use his range, footwork and skills that we all know he has then he would be a real force.Newport Daz wrote:. When comparing teh two we shouldnt bring in the quality of just one of the coaches are they are both quite inexperienced.
i think they will both hit the same level.... but clevs long & drawn out n boring... bellews short lived but with excitment

Re: Career potential bomber or clev
I think Clev gets far too much stick on here. I like Bomber a lot but I wouldn't favour him in a rematch against Clev.
BTW - didn't Clev tweet recently about wanting to give a rematch to Bomber? Or was that some sort of wind up about Bomber not being with Warren any more?

He did, but Tony was promised the fight last year after the first one and has been after the fight ever since. One of the reasons the relationship broken down with allegedly.johnswan1 wrote:I think Clev gets far too much stick on here. I like Bomber a lot but I wouldn't favour him in a rematch against Clev.

Couple of good comparisons with regards to these two. You have to say Clev's career has the most potential purely to his age and the level he's at. Though as others have said, I can see the more entertaining and talked about fights, coming from Tony.
Re: Career potential bomber or clev
To be honest, I don't really rate Clev too highly. To me he seems a KO waiting to happen.
I do like Bomber, as has been said he is the one who can make exciting fights, and he'll probably get more opportunities because of this - plus he has a better public.

Tony has shown progression in his skills in the last couple of years. I'm not sure Cleverley has, and I don't think that's a good sign.
Re: Career potential bomber or clev
Clev is 25 and an undefeated British world champion. I am baffled as to why you guys don't get behind him.
I honestly believe Clev wants the big fights, but maybe his promoter doesn't.
I wanted Bellew to beat Clev, but I thought Clev won it comfortably and was actually surprised by the ease he did it with.
I actually think he's a decent fighter to watch. He may not be the biggest puncher but he is game when hit. Maybe that'll be his downfall and he is a KO waiting to happen but until it happens I think he should be supported.

....just take a look at their ages. And another look at the result when they faced each other.
I think that will kinda spell the answer out to those who don`t know

Re: Career potential bomber or clev
Your probably right mate. Something about him which I just cant get excited about. With regards to a KO waiting to happen, I have seen a few fights where he sticks his chin out and leaves himself wide open just remember thinking 'one day'. I hope not though, genuinely hope he progresses and makes me a believer.johnswan1 wrote:Clev is 25 and an undefeated British world champion. I am baffled as to why you guys don't get behind him.

Simple - it is because he doesn't post on here (Tony does, and as they are the same weight, many people on here jump on the Bellew bandwagon).johnswan1 wrote:Clev is 25 and an undefeated British world champion. I am baffled as to why you guys don't get behind him.
Larry Olubamiwo used to post on here and reading most (if not all) the comments you would think he is the next Ali and not someone who was lucky to win a Southern Area Title.
There's nowt as strange as folk !
Re: Career potential bomber or clev
I like both fighters. This is not Blur vs Oasis, where sides have to be taken.
I simply hope both fulfill their potential , at the moment only Bellew seems to be on track.
Clev was riding Sky silly 12 months ago, now his profile is sadly on a downward trend. Whereas his Liverpool nemesis had a great last outing and looks set to build on that.

Poor try Gomez ... Flattering to decieve ain't fooling anybody sorry.
Tonys last opponent was not as an impressive win for him as the same guy was for Nathan a couple of years earlier ..

Re: Career potential bomber or clev
Bomber has (or at least HAD) more talent.
However, because he's been surrounded by young, bright sparks like Gavin and BJS, he tried to match their career trajectories and essentially tried to run before he could walk.
Clev OTOH, has been put in fights at the right time, hence his relative better career.
Bomber could still be a genuine world champion, but he has to go back to square one and think about the long game. He's smarter than Degale, Gavin, Saunders etc...they're just kids with egos.
