Sorry to be anal but only two current pro boxers are actually billed from "West Ham": Dutchman Mitchell Balker and Mickey Coveney. Mitchell is from Dagenham, Billy Morgan and Freddie Turner Canning Town and Buglioni, while he trains at the TKO, is from and still lives in Winchmore Hill in north London.

Are you going to be brave enough to voice your opinion on whether the Upton Park show should go ahead if Haye and Chisora fight?
And of course would you have a problem with them fighting without sanction from the BBBoC?

In fairness, he's already stated that he doesn't agree with it, and will not be watching it. Whether that makes it's way into any of his columns is another matter, but that's probably not his call. Fair play to him.

I don't want to broach the subject in BN or FF as my views may not reflect the editorial stance of the publications. My personal view is that the Board should not be circumvented in this way regardless of opportunity (the argument that the Board left the door ajar) or legality. I believe ethically and morally the move is reprehensible but more importantly it appears to me incredibly selfish given the precedent it sets. Again just my personal view but so you realise how strongly I feel not only will I not be watching - either in person or on tv - but I openly criticised the show on Twitter knowing that this would almost certainly end my working relationship with allegedly (I did the research for their commentators) and result in my losing a significant secondary income. Inevitably, this is exactly what happened and I do not regret my actions one bit - without meaning to sound self-righteous (and probably failing) I'll choose principals over money every time. To clarify it's a relatively intriguing contest which I would be as excited about as many others are if both men were licensed by the governing body of the country in which they will fight. To reiterate, my views are my own and not necessarily indicative of BN or FF. I also have no desire to convert anyone to my way of thinking - I respect all reasonable viewpoints; this is simply mine.

Thanks for that, and I agree wholeheartedly

No problem. I'll bow out with a (relatively) topical analogy if I may. The widespread abuse of parliamentry expenses was in most cases both completely legal and - due to the system's inherent flaws - easy to accomplish, yet still provoked almost universal disgust. Just because you can do something does not mean you should in my opinion. That's all from me. Thanks for your indulgence.

Well done dbflex . Don't worry - at the end of the day your principles will stand you in good stead and you'll be highly respected in the vast majority of boxing circles . Bob Mee has done the same this week in print - I wouldn't have expected anything less .
It is difficult for Boxing News . They have accepted money for the adverts ,and they are a journal of record ,and to date the editorials have simply reported the facts without making too many comments thereby not alienating either side . Business is business after all .
I think this is a wise move meantime because I'm still pretty certain the fight won't happen due to a Haye 'injury ' and then everyone can save face without backing down . On the other hand if it does go ahead then I feel MY weekly boxing paper has to make a stand , and in my opinion they should simply record the results . I remember a few years ago Tommy Gilmour banned a Boxing News journalist from his shows because of something he said , and for a few months they simply reported the results without reports . So the 'News' can make a stand ,and I'm absolutely certain that Harry Mullan would have had an opinion !!!

They did the same thing when I was banned from Warren's Belfast show a few years ago. But this is a huge business consideration. It's the biggest fight of the year, like it or not, plus BN have good relationships both with the promoter and the Board. But most importantly if BN is to be the voice of the fans, it seems to me my views (and Bob's) may not actually be representative of the majority of fans. Indeed looking at the thread devoted to this topic on here, opinions seem to be split down the middle. There would be far from universal backing for any print boycott.
