Gutted this isnt happening. For once i thought 2 unbeaten prospects were actually gonna get it on, in what many thought was a true 50/50 battle (and to be fair the outstanding bout of the promotion). This happens time and time again :(

I would just like to go on record and state that We ( Team Keane ) was massively looking forward to this fight and preparations was goin great then mid morning today I got a phone call saying they are trying to move the fight to the Kelvin Hall! Glasgow for the following week, we have had no explanation and reasons for this so obviously alarm bells started to ring. We would personally still like the fight to happen BUT ON A EVEN PLAYING FIELD. We feel that Chris Keane Is the fastest improving and Most Dangerous Cruiserweight around since David Haye in Britain all he needs is experience and fight fans will be greatly appreciating of his style and explosiveness and power and this was the perfect fight with another former Amatuer star and un beaten fighter to show case his skills. We hope that some compromise can be agreed

Our side ( Team Keane ) see no reason why the fight still can't happen on the proposed date and at the same venue as originally agreed, we are ready and look forward to the fight, preparations have gone great and we are extremely confident and excited about this fight.

how come its been moved :-?

No explanation given to us ( Team Keane ) as yet. Nothing has been concreted yet to say it has or hasn't been moved, from our understanding the other team and powers above are trying to get it moved for reasons unbeknown to us

I just hope the fight goes ahead because it could be a very good scrap. If its not a level playing field in Glasgow then Billly can say the same about it being in Wolverhampton.

Why don't yous just meet at the Border at Carlisle and go a square go hahaha.

Billy Nelson is a top trainer and a good man, Stephen Simmons is a Good honest hard working young pro, I can't see them not wanting the fight, they will feel its a fight they can win so can't see a problem with the fight still happening :TU: keep posted and either myself or Billy will keep you updated

If their messing u about with no reason then i would just look for another fight. Sounds like billys not got as much faith in simmons as he makes out if he wants to move it to glasgow without good reason.

What is that supposed to mean ? - of course he wants the fight which is why he agreed to the fight on the 22nd.

It seems strange as the rest of the bill is still going ahead ?

As the decision was clearly not made by Keane, who made the decision and why ?

This strikes me as a typical c*nts trick - less than 2 weeks before the fight the date and location mysteriously changes - in the hope that Keane just goes along with it as he has been training for weeks (and incurring expenses), probably taken time of work etc.

I am sure that there is a reasonable explanation.

Billy is usually forthcoming with his opinion so it will be interesting to understand what happened.

Yh mate still as of now, no explanation has been given and we are a bit in the dark about what's going on, like I've said, we are 1 million per cent confident that this fight is made for us and we will win, we want it to happen, but if no news is delivered to us very soon as to what exactly is going on then we will obviously take it that after agreeing to fight us and the date and venue and details agreed the opposite team have had second thoughts and think its too risky or a fight they can't win so we will have no choice but to move on to bigger fights like Tony Conquest, Matty Askin Or Dickinson and leave Simmons and his team to play catch up. I think by the sensus of some of these comments and people's opinions it's looking to everyone like they don't fancy it after all, shame really could of been a good scrap, still hope for it coming off though, fingers crossed :TU: Come on Billy let us know mate :D :box:

If the fight doesn't happen Keane gets to stay undefeated a bit longer he has no chance against Simmons

With the fullest of respect Chris's manager(EJ) basically told me on friday it wasnt looking good for 22nd that was the first i knew about it.
This had nothing to do with me or Stephen we'd fight Chris wherever because we know we will beat him and beat him well,if the fight comes to Glasgow im happy having the 3 english judges and an english ref just like team Keane would have got had the fight went ahead in Wolverhampton. Please make the fight happen and get Chris out his comfort zone coz Stephen will certainly take him out it!

Boxing trainers don't change venues believe me guys, the venue change will have nothing to do with Billy or Stephen or Chris and his side, the question that needs asking is, was it selling well? I think the best place to do it would be on the London bill at Bethnel Green but is that too far away? I don't know the exact date of Butler V Sexton?

Good luck to both camps anyway :TU:

Theres simply no blame from our end we were willing to come to Wolverhampton regardless of judges and referee,we could have it in England,Japan or Spain Chris isnt going to beat Simmo in a boxing ring. :bag:

Again Conquest,Askins and Dickinson imo simply are not bigger fights for your man,Simmons is going to be the man in the Cruiserweights and he will prove it,just needs quality sparring which we get regularly by traveling to England and Wales

Ok, now I am getting confused.

The match was made for the 22nd in Wolves.

Chris Kean still wants the fight.
Steve Simmons wants the fight.

The bill is still going ahead.

So why has a change been suggested and who is behind it ?

Yh possible mate but if ours is not a official eliminator then there will be no need for judges therefore we will get a Scottish ref I guarantee it and were not willing to run the risk, and if your wondering why, just type Stephen Simmons Vs Nick Okoth into you tube and have a watch and get back to me if you think we're being to precautious :TU: this is a kid who represented his country countless times, on his home show with his trainer who people think walks on water up in Scotland, he's like the new messiah to them, which is not his fault, he deserves a lot of credit for his great work, but we just won't get a fair crack of the whip, Billy & Stephen Simmons are good blokes, honest decent professionals but it's the politics that rear there ugly head time and time again in our great sport. Let the lads have a level playing field rather than 1 always trying to have a upper hand that's all we're asking.

If your laddie is that good, why would you bother worrying about the refs? No offense but it does read a bit like your making excuses a bit. Reffing up here is the same standard as the reffing down south, all your stuff about people thinking Billy walks on water is just daft mate and really dosent add any credability for you not accepting the fight

i will say though it isint really fair to change it at short notice ,but if it was changed to somewere down south you proberly wouldent have the same complaints, but yet Stephen and billy would be expect to commit no problem .

not trying to be an arsehole ,but i really think your making a bigger deal of the england/scotland thing

Not at all mate, my point is why are we going to travel to a fighters own back yard who 1: boxed many times for his nation 2: is a bit of a local celebrity on the local news, working the doors on the local nightclubs 3: where his trainer is a local hero. Them points have got nothing to do with English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish or where ever, it's the point of going to a fighters home town where he's a favourite, and if you think that home town fighters don't get the decision usually then your either 1: very naive or 2: you don't know much about what happens in this sport mate.

Ok ,ill take your point about home town decisions,i know they happen. But again,if your confident that your guy will win ,then what is there to debate ?

Also Stephen is from Edinburgh,he does the doors in Edinburgh ,so its not really his home town tbh him fighting in Glasgow is the equivalent of a Newcastle fighter fighting in Liverpool .

It looks like the usual boxing politics are involved with out our knowledge then Billy for what ever reasons. And About Chris coming out of his comfort zone mate  he's only ever fought at home once, and that was his last fight, he hasn't got no big promoter, no media attention, no sponsors, no big fanfare :shame: he doesn't know what comfort is mate, boxing away from home where he hasn't even got no fans  believe me Billy he does it the hard way mate.
