Hatton
Hatton
I watched the press conference on the TV and was a bit dissapointed with the coverage by Sky.
For me I wanted to find out about the Hatton deal and not about Hatton's thoughts of Muassa - that Sky bloke was hogging the mic asking poor questions for the duration of the televised part of the conference.
So does anybody know what is the deal with Fight Academy? Is it Fight by fight? Is it a longer term. Has Maussa actually signed (not just Hatton) or has he just agreed in principle - I find it odd that I haven't read an interview offering his perspectives of fighting the number #1 rated fighter in his weight class.
Did Dennis Hobson speak on the Sports Network situation, I would have liked to have heard his opinion on their contractual issues. Did anyone speak of the possibility of working with Warren again to arrange a Mbaye (possible mandatory) fight?
Dennis claimed he got Muassa to agree within 48 hours of Hatton (Ray) contacting him saying he is who they wanted, that is damn good going.

yeah, got to agree, watched it when i came in from work as was dissapointed by it's lack of edge. With so much else surrounding this you would have thought some of it would have been addressed or at least mentioned but noting.
Did anyone else notice Dennis Hobson's slip of the toungue? And almost calling Ricky Clinton?

But its hardly a superfight is it?. And this from someone who says he only has 3 fights left in him!.
What happened to him sorting things out with Witter?. To be honest the man has no pride..... if he did have he'd want to fight Witter to prove who the best is. Instead he is fighting a glorified clubfighter for a dubious belt which will prove nothing.

Why isn't he fighting Cotto then?..... Maussas title is dubious at best and winning it will prove nothing.boxbet wrote:he wants to unify the devision. nothing wrong with that. this is what should happen in every weight class. not sure witter will ever be the same again after breaking his hand (also calzaghe).

Why is Maussa's title dubious, he beat Vivian Harris for the belt, its totally legit. He may not be a legit champion in your eyes, but he beat Harris who was considered a massive favourite going into the fight.silkov wrote:Why isn't he fighting Cotto then?..... Maussa can be called a legit champ, but he's just about the worst fighter P4P to be holding a WBA belt. That's why I wouldn't fork out extra PPV for this match up. I've seen plenty of Maussa and he doesn't even look that good when he wins a fight.
Sensible option for Ricky all the same, as it will sell.

After the Kotelnek performance? I wouldn't have thought so before, but I think Witter actually needs another fight before he goes fighting Hatton/Mayweather/Cotto to sort out his head, stamina or whatever was wrong in his last fight.silkov wrote:Hatton would prove far more by fighting Witter
I would like Witter in an 'easy' EBU defence against Lauri, then to fight either Cotto (on slightly longer notice) or vacant WBC vs TBA. Hatton then fights the winner of either of those.
That Tszyu fight was a tough one physically and mentally. I don't think he needs another Tszyu level opponent immediately. Maussa wouldn't be a terrible opponent for a first defence (like some were suggestion Woods vs Oakey) anyway, but the WBA belt is an added bonus.
I'm glad he has taken this fight. I hope the undercard is of PPV standard, or maybe there will be a US bill as part of the deal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Witter KO Lauri in 2? Do you mean Branco?jomothepure wrote:After the Kotelnek performance? I'd like to see Witter-Tackie to keep WItter busy and improving
Or someone with a name/ranking - could he defened his Euro belt against Abdulaev? WOuld be a good challenging match up and good prep for a Hatton fight.
I agree with Stu, if this is gonna be pay per view then the undercard is gonna have to be good. I find it very surprising the amount of people that are happy with what is clearly not anything like a 50-50 fight. Does Hatton now deserve an easy fight after beating Zoo? Didn't he have 38 of them before Zoo?
Lauri is Witter's mandatory. Abdulaev is not european.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Witter KO Lauri in 2?
