Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
Has anyone ever scored 10-8 rounds consecutively, or for the majority of the 12 rounds ?
I'm guessing the ref or corner would put an end to such a one sided affair, but there might of been lots of flash knock downs ? I'd be interested to know if anyone has ever won by more than 20 points making the score 120 to 90 something ?
Or just the widest world title fight margin ?

Re: Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
The rigondeaux fight on the weekend just got me thinking as it must of been 40-33 after 4 rounds, I know it was over in the 5th and some governing bodies have a knock down rule but it just got me thinking !
Re: Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
Whitaker beat Poli Diaz with three scores of 120. The most one-sided world title fights in my time were Holmes-Cobb and McCallum-Mannion, both over 15 rounds.
Re: Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
tthe judge who gave eubank a 120-109 against lindell holmes needed shooting. lindell cleanly took 4-5rnds of that.
the judge who gave eubank a 118-109 against graziano rocchigiani needed hanging, as rocchi clearly took 5-6rnds!

One judge give Lacy 105 against Calzaghe, despite only one knockdown

Re: Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
One of the Judges in the Vitali / Shannon Briggs fight had it 120-105. That is the widest one over 12 rounds in recent years I have seen.
Re: Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
I'm more interested in finding out why he would shoot one and hang the other, surely you could use the gun again?G0mez wrote:Don't let Eubankbot read this !mrkh wrote:tthe judge who gave eubank a 120-109 against lindell holmes needed shooting. lindell cleanly took 4-5rnds of that.

Vic Darchinyan beat a guy called Barzelona or something similar 120-103 if memory serves a few years ago, think there were
some knockdowns and possibly points deductions, or some such like, thats the widest I can recall.

Re: Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
Jeff Fenech fights had some odd scores, when he fought Tony Miller one of the judges gave it to Fenech 120-101. Thats some beating for Miller.
Fenech knocked out Satoshi Shingaki in the 9th round for the Bantam title, 2 of the judges had the fight 80-72 after 8 rounds, whilst the Japanese judge had it 80-80!!

Under the 12 rounds. Anek Hongjongkam had Vitali K beating Shannon Briggs 120-105 was the first one that jumped out. And after 8 rounds was beating Danny Williams 70-59 on Jerry Roth's card back in 2004. For 15 rounds I had to do a bit of digging and came up with
Larry Holmes pitching on two scoreds against Tex Cobb 150-135 across the board for the WBC title back in 82 and the year before that had one judge beating Trevor Berbick by the same margin.
Muhammed Ali against Ernie Terrell back in 1967 was on Jimmy Webb's scorecard 148-133

Lupe Pintor v Jose Felix Uziga one of the scores was 150-128.
Muhammad Ali v Rudi Lubbers, was 60-40 . My head hurts working that one out.

Re: Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
There both outstanding scores, the Ali one doesn't make sence, even if he lost every round 10-7 it would of been 60-42 !Old bones Ian wrote:Lupe Pintor v Jose Felix Uziga one of the scores was 150-128.

In Australia a few years ago Jamie Pittman beat a guy called Nonoy Gonzales with scores of 120-105 x 2 and 120-101!

Re: Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
Terry Norris W12 Sugar Ray Leonard.
Scored 119-103, 120-104 and 116-110 (absurdly generous).
I remember picking Leonard to win that one![[icon_knockout.gif] :KO:](./images/smilies/icon_knockout.gif)

Re: Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
Not the widest, but one of those head-scratchy stretching-the-old-maths ones, was Chiquita Gonzalez vs Domingo Sosa. 114-109, 115-109 & 115-107 (!). Can you imagine all the bloody annotations due to points being docked/knockdowns? Those scorecards must've looked like a map of the Battle of Hastings...

Re: Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
Ali was hard to sell in the States after his losses Frazier and Norton, and he was forced overseas to some of the most obscure boxing destinations, including Zurich, Vancouver, Jakarta and Dublin. Even his first fight with Bugner in Las Vegas in 1973 was a British promotion (and wasn't a sellout). It just goes to show that Ali was prepared to live humbly for a cause and the cause was Foreman in Zaire.Old bones Ian wrote:Whilst do a bit of research on this one, i found out that Reg Gutteridge was interviewing Ali between rounds!! Re: Widest ever score after 12 rounds ?
Done a little more digging again this time head scatching maths
Tyson-Holyfield I Frederico Vollmer 100-93 to Holyfield
and Tyson-Ruddock 2 Chuck Giama 113-109, Art Lurie 114-108, Dalby Shirley 114-108
I know that 100-90 is a shut after 10 rounds and I know that 97-93 is 7-3. So I am guess three even ones in that one. As for the second Ruddock fight must have been a foul fest.

I remember having Cotto vs Gomez 50-38 when it was stopped.
All the rounds were 10-8's and a couple of KDs to boot.
