Horace Notice
I only heard about this guy last night my dad mentioned him to me. He retired an undefeated British and Commonwealth Heavyweight champ. Anyone know why he retired?

Re: Horace Notice
Notice was a really good fighter - mentally strong and unbeaten when he was forced out. It was a minor tragedy.

He was before my time and i've just heard of him but just thinking how good could he have been. A fight with Bruno could have determined that.bennie wrote:Notice was a really good fighter - mentally strong and unbeaten when he was forced out. It was a minor tragedy.
Re: Horace Notice
He wouldn't have fought Bruno because they were stablemates. He may have been steered, as with Gary Mason, to a payday with Lewis.

Cheers for the info dudes.mercman wrote:Agree - Horace Notice was a good fighter, part of the Terry Lawless stable in the 1980s. I remember him stopping Hughroy Currie to win the Briish title. Notice was quite a small heavyweight though:about 6'1'' and normally well under 15 stone. He could well have achieved more but might have been out of his depth against really big guys like Bruno, Mason and Lewis.
I also seem to remember Notice being less active than the likes of Bruno and Mason - despite turning pro quite late. Maybe Lawless had a different strategy for him. Either way, in my view, the 200lb cruiserweight limit would have suited Notice. If he was around today I am sure he would be a cruiser - and a very good one.
