Dawson/Bryant Aug 4

Post by amwsnw »

I see Daniel Dawson and Robbie Bryant are due to jump back in the ring on August 4. I really hope these guys can get some decent creditable opponents who will mean something should they get a victory. I feel Bryant has got to make a decision, take on the best and make a move overseas or sit tight as a very good doemstic fighter. As for Dawson, he is in the twilight of his career. He needs a creditable opponent to hopefully set up one last, big, deserving payday.
Curiously I dont see Andy Green listed...what a waste !! This guy should be in the ring with any of the top Aust Light Heavies. It is time for him to prove himself (which I have every confidence he can) against the best in the country. I know he has had his injuries, I wonder if his hearts in it anymore ?? I would love to see Casey v Green, if Joels cuts had healed.

Given they're most likely PABA title defences, I doubt opponents will be anywhere near credible.
PABA prides itself on 64% KO/TKO endings....It makes its champs look good LOL!

Ihavent checked the WBA rankings at all, but has Dawsons last vicotry or Robbies for that matter, assisted them moving upwards in the rankings ? Any idea what Andy is doin. At his age there is no time waste his talent.

Good to see threads like this making a comeback, our fringe fighters should be getting a plug.

However i really am shocked how Dawsons career turned out. I was a massive fan when he appeared on a lot of Greens earlier cards, when he was schooled by Geale it all went to shit, he hasn't a real win over a world rated fighter since Solopov. I pray this guy fights someone good soon, it's rather disappointing.

I agree about Bryant, very entertaining fighter and would like to see where he wants to go, i feel he could probably surprise himself by winning in a step up fight.

Green needs to decide what he wants to do, i think this guy has to move east to get any decent fights.

Yeah Dawg, I agree on all counts. I feel Dawson truied to become a boxer when his best strength is to brawl.
Green moving east.....he could do a lot worse.

Haven't kept tabs on their WBA rating, bur I'm sure if either take on & beat Kiwi Dion McNabney http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer their WBA rating will sky-rocket

WBA ranks Dawson as no 15 contender for its super welterweight title.
They rank Bryant no 11 contender for their middleweight title.

McNabney fought Bryant, but on that occasion he simply had a shite day at the office LOL!
Dawson's fight will no doubt be PABA title mandatory defence. Mind ya, PABA can't spell mandatory.....let alone enforce it

McNabney was KOed in the first by Bryant two years ago. It is about three years now since McNabney won a fight.

Who had the bad day at the office? There are six ranked super welterweights in New Zealand and three have worse records than McNabney.

Some of us over rated Dawson because he strung all those wins together. But he didn't beat much and we now know how good Geale is.

Not sure if Daniel was overrated. Against most of his weight class in Australia , in his prime, he would be victorious. Gealey scholled him, but hey we do know how good Geale is.
Dawson has fought for a world title, on top of his kickboxing credentials he has been a great servant to the sport. I really hope he gets a name opponent who can bring him some good bucks.

Just back on the Andrew Green issue....hopefully Green Machine realise he isnt fighting anytime soon and offer him a spot on their card. Would be great for a WA boy to get a gig on a card like that in his hometown.

I've wondered about a few WA fighters getting a plug on his cards.

Wills, Kickett and Dawson all have been used for his cards in the past, with Tomlinson,Vea & Cameron being used more recently.

I would like to see Bryant and Green used on 1 of his cards, but with all honesty the fights would have to be something like this.

Bryant vs Fletcher
Andrew Green vs Flanaghan or to that effect.

Greeney's cards should all be a platform for Australian fighters mentioned above to step up and put on good fights for the Australian public.
Oportunity to impress on Greens cards should be grabbed with both hands, as they are the most watched fight's in Australia, what better way to promote yourself as the next big thing here...ala Will Tomlinson.

Watching the card last night, I thought the exact same thing. Green should be fighting these guys like Jones and Flanagan. It would make for a cracking fight.

I meant he was over rated then. I don't think he is now because the expectations have been lowered. Particularly since Frank Loporto stopped him.

I'm loving the Lt Heavyweights down here atm, they're all fighting each other and for the first time in years, a division is being sort out.

The records of fighters are not perfect but they're all learning the fight game a lot quicker.

I would love to see a tourney or a elimination event.

Great main event last night. Thought both went up several levels.

Also great to hear that Omar and Fletcher are talking about getting it on before years end.

I actually thought jones took it lastnight, although it was a tough fight to score.
Your right there are a lot of good LT Heavys in Aus at the moment. Another good one is turning Pro onb a card over here in a few months. He is the Aussie Amature Champion at 75 or 81. Jeremy Van Dieman. He will be one to watch, a real tough come forward fighter. Throws punches with Bad intentions and is knocking out guys in the amatures regulary.

I'll keep my out he sounds exciting.

Some Trans Tasman fights would be great as well, and now Greeny returning to the weight, don't think he will fight any of them, but still non the less.

Caperello is the bench mark, but some of these other fighters just need the fights to get up to his level, Caperello is being managed and trained well.

These blokes need to sort out where there at as they're about at the same level.

Group 1; Current active fighters only

Caperello, Baff, Kariuki,McCulloch, Powencby,Fuava, Berridge.

Group 2;

Flanagan,Jones, McKinnon, Orchard,Maley,Green,Lovett,Vlamis,Gunner jackson, Casey, & Raturee.

I personally believe those guys mentioned above are all exciting and talented fighters and the groups are sorted on match making and current levels, i would love to see any of those guys matched, and hope they continue to get matched, Di Carlo has matched quite a few of those fights already, if other fighters would like to get involved i suggest to contact him.

Looks like Steve Heremaia had a big win over Oti. maybe he should contact CDL and try and get a bout with Bryant or Dawson. I think its a nothing fight for Dawson, but his career seems to have stagnated with some of the match ups of late.
Bryant on the other hand could do with fighting someone who will stand and bang with him as long as it lasts....neither has an opponent listed and the card seems to need something big to make it worthwhile. Not sure Heremaia is what it needs but they could do worse.

I agree, Heremaia would be an excellent opponent for either Dawson or Bryant. I'd especially love to see Heremaia vs Bryant, it would be a big win for either fighter and an interesting matchup seeing as they have two mutual opponents, Heremaia beat Frank Lo Porto who gave Bryant his only (disputable) loss, while Heremaia has a draw and a points loss to Harry Venka, who Bryant beat by a split decision.

I am a huge fan of Daniel's and respect what he has done both in boxing and kick boxing. But I have to wonder what his management are trying to achieve with fights like this upcoming bout. Dawson deserves a couple of big pay days and I doubt bouts against guys such as this do anything for his bargaining power.
He loses, everyone says he is way past it, he wins, and of naturally he should have won......its time his team did the right thing by him and got Daniel an opponent that can bring some attention back in his direction.

I hear it's just a case of "Watch this space with Dawson"

I believe after his two wars with Virgil Kalakoda, where he was injured, He took time off to allow them to heal, I know they are really keen to get back into the WBA ratings, he is #15 now, so he will need to fight someone higher rated, this fight he has coming up, is just a keep busy fight and to brush out the rust after 7 months, so i believe they are just taking small steps for now.

His Manager Mike Altamura and I have had a few conversations regarding his future opponents, which will get him back rated inside the WBA top 10, which won't be far away, so lets see what happens after this fight.

Yes he's gonna have his knockers, and that's fine, there are so called experts everywhere, who most have never even had a fight, but he know's what's expected of him, he is not getting any younger and father time will eventually come into play, if he hasn't already.

So i agree, he needs to work smarter, not harder and get himself going a little more regularly, I believe his next opponent will push him hard, and give him much needed rounds, for this keep busy, voluntary defence.
