I keep hearing 'it's a licensed show' but it's level of licensing is on a par with what most people would consider unlicensed.

It's licensed by a rogue body which now no longer has the backing of the only thing which gave it a modicum of credibility.

You may not realise this but the EBF, IBA etc is licensed. They are licensed by themselves as is the LBF.

Now would you want EBF and IBA fights adding to Boxrec?

If Boxrec record this 'alternatively licensed' fight, does that mean that they will recognise all other 'alternatively licensed' fights? Of course not. Boxrec is merely following its rule of not recognising non-BBBofC licensed fights in Britain.
Quite. Also interesting how the initial spin kept mentioning that the reason for the LBF's legitimacy was their affiliation to the EBU. Now they're going to be kicked out after July 14th, it's funny that this is no longer seen as so important by those involved.

The result will go up but probably 'unsanctioned'. As The Insider says, I doubt anyone involved gives a hoot anyway.

We have more than one person who has links with the BBBofC (including me) but that has got nothing to do with the decision. We do not list fights which are unsanctioned by their national body in our schedule . However, we sometimes do (dependng on the situation) list their results after the fight has taken place. This process has been in place for a very long time. I hope this clears it up for you.

If we listed the fight in our schedule then we would neither be 'promoting' or 'advertising' the event. The BBBofC would not issue any sanctions against Boxrec (or its volunteers) for merely listing a fight in their schedule. Remember we are merely volunteers on Boxrec and we have no financial involvement in the show.

Not disputing that altaf , just stating that a mod DID state what i wrote above , which is i believe why theres some confusion .

You've already said it mate....if.

You won't have to travel to Europe. You can become a lux box member and have fights whenever they are arranged for you with this organisation. You just gotta wait till your promoter puts his next show on and he contacts your manager. If you have been warned and warned again I can't see as you have an argument really.
Yes but surely if this happened you will only be able to fight opponents from the same stable, as for example if a Hearn fighter fought an allegedly one on a lbf bill, they too would then risk being banned by the bbboc as well. So the only options are, we have 2 boards of control like darts where one set of fighters never fight each other, or all promoters turn against the board to set up a new body (which isn't going to happen) or the bbboc back down.
There won't be 2 boards. No terrestrial TV company nor Sky would go near a non-BBBC promoter.

And to the point earlier saying that the board is Board is not a national governing body because it is self- appointed - every national sporting body is self appointed. Do you think the FA, the ECB, LTA or British Athletics is appointed by the Government?

So does it just boil down to this......

Can the BBBOC terminate your membership with their exclusive club if you go and earn a living with another exclusive club?

yes of course they can , its what effect that action will cause thats the tricky bit , not legally , but for the ramifications within the sport in Britain and maybe beyond

I cant see any reason that can be seen as illegal any more than someone being barred from a specific pub can be .

I think its a bit more complicated than that Damien. You've got a lot of red tape to cut through including the Fundamental Rights of the EU including the "rights pertaining to work" and "Binding political objectives" documents. It's all down to this right to earn a living malarchy.

But as people have already argued theres no rule stating they cant put the show on , its up to the BBBoC if they then want to be part of it , its in my view pretty much the same as a taxi driver refusing to pick up a certain punter , they wont earn by refusing to do so but doesnt mean they cant get a taxi from elsewhere ,

Im aware its not quite as simple as that but in my view now that Luxembourg dont have the backing of the EBU i see no reason why the BBBoC are obliged to sanction it .

The show will and should still go ahead , but it will be unsanctioned .

and im not one for being against either side , but the way its developed of late thats how i see it ,
but as i said before its the ramifications afterwards that may be interesting , for example how the board deal with the people who box on the show and what action those take from there , i just dont believe that in court the BBBoC would have any trouble defending their position , just that it could and may well do , cause a new board to be formed , which at first will probably have both sides refusing to sanction each others fighters , or more so the board not wanting to sanction fighters from the opponent jurisdiction , but down the line in time i think it will change and they will box on each others jurisdiction no different to how a foreign boxer is used .

im no legal eye whatsover but thats how i see it currently , its different to my original opinion but that was before things developed .

No one is saying the show can't go on. In a previous post I said I think it will go on and the board are resigned to the fact now imo.

Think I've said that too.
how the board deal with the people who box on the sho ;;-) w and what action those take from there
This is the key mate. If the board are powerless to pull licences it basically opens up a free for all. It's not just about the show on the 14th of July. BBBOC boxers, trainers and managers can then appear on "unlicensed" shows
and alike an will be powerless to enforce any similar altercations in the future.

Personally I see the board suspending everyone involved, they will sit at home counting their money then come back in 6 months and its business as usual.

I still think a lot of this will depend on what happens on this EU ruling/right to earn a living stuff.

The confusion is understandable. I hope my explanation clears things up (i.e. the BBBofC had no influence on our decision not to list the fight on our schedule).

I can imagine Mike Goodhall would certainly take the board to court. This man is probably the busiest man in British boxing. No doubt he will be working the 14Th show erecting the ring etc as he does for the majority of shows in the UK. Although don't know if ring erecting is licensed

I don't think the Board would touch him. Who on earth would want a 'hearing' with a bloke armed with a mic and Goodall's previous?

He'd just walk in and go to them 'SIT DOWN! BEHAVE YOURSELVES! YOU'RE A DISGRACE!' etc. as he has done to many groups of rucking fans over the years.

I dont mean backed financially

The FA for example are considered by the government as THE guys in charge of football , the same cant be said of the BBBoC , i cant currently recall the exact way to describe it but its been well talked about in these forums of late .

Of course the British Boxing Board of Control are considered the guys in charge of professional boxing in Britain by the Government. In exactly the same way as the FA, or the LTA etc.

The difference is that such organisations would be in charge of the grass roots of the sport, whereas in boxing that is done by the ABA

Just read in another post that Dean Powell has allegedly said he will have nothing to do with the promotion in any way shape of form. Dean knows his stuff too. Is this a reflection in the balance of power at the moment?

Powell has told Boxing Scene that he is working the card. I'd be astonished if he didn't.

Quoted from another thread here on BR.

"

The precedent has already been set by no less a person than Mr. Dean Powell who has years of experience in the sport and is very closely connected with Bunny.

As has already been posted on this or another forum, Dean made it very clear to all the boxers who were summoned to the recent FWP meeting to drum up an undercard for the Haye - Chisora fight that, he would not be acting as cornerman, manager or trainer to any boxer at Upton Park. He also made it clear that he would not even be wrapping any boxer's hands, albeit out of sight in the dressing rooms.

What message this sends to others who may be willing to take the risk of losing their licence/s is a matter for each individual to determine.

However, given Dean's undeniable knowledge of the sport and the workings of the Board, if I had to make a choice I know what it would be, given his example"

This is what Dean Powell told Terence D, published on Weds:

“It is not true that I won't be working, the information is incorrect and I will be working at West Ham in my usual capacity,” said Powell when speaking to BS. “I will be working in the corner alongside [Chisora's trainer] Don Charles and also as a cutsman and wrapping hands – I want to make that clear. My position is this – I will be standing alongside allegedly, Don Charles, Dereck Chisora, and all the rest of Frank's fighters and staff. It is nonsense to say otherwise. I want it to be corrected. I'd like to know where people get this 'information' from because it simply isn't true.”

Well that f**king told me :)

Gotta say in the battle of the quotes (or quoteoffs) yours definitely sound more like Dean to me.
