A good friend of mine was training thangthong. He just won an Ibf eliminator and became no1 contender. His wife also died in the crash and his two young daughters are in a bad way. The girls will be in my prays.yid14 wrote:And what with Johnny Tapia and Thai super bantamweight Thangthong Kiattaweesuk dying it's been a bad few days for boxing

Dam, poor guy.
Hope he can recover though it seems unlikely. That fight with Alvarez would have been a cracker

Not a good week at all. ![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)
Re: Paul Williams motor cycle crash.
I notice he has already been removed from the boxrec rankings. They don't muck around!
I wish the guy all the best. You just have to admire his sense of humour in regards to his comment about if he can't box, he is going to be a stand up comedian. You have to be made of something different to jest about that kind of stuff, especially so early on in the piece.
Good on you Paul, I am sure the whole boxing community will be behind you; I know I am!

Re: Paul Williams motor cycle crash.
His doctors have said he will never walk again. A rating would be the last thing on his mind.

Maybe you could use a better turn of phraseStinger wrote:I notice he has already been removed from the boxrec rankings. They don't muck around!

??? They are the words of Paul, not Stinger, hence the comment that you have to admire Paul's sense of humour....
Re: Paul Williams motor cycle crash.
Exactly.
Pauls words not mine, and I admire him for it.

Re: Paul Williams motor cycle crash.
Paul Williams may walk again. More will be known in the next couple of weeks. Great news for the punisher
Prays are with him.
Prays are with him.
Re: Paul Williams motor cycle crash.
Hope he recovers and even more I hope he can box again would be a true Cinderella story!!
Re: Paul Williams motor cycle crash.
The lower half of his spine was destroyed in the accident. He will never fight again, he will be lucky to walk again.
Re: Paul Williams motor cycle crash.
No worries Dr Brute
Re: Paul Williams motor cycle crash.
I read a story today that quoted his surgeon as saying that his spine was damaged in the mid thorax region, and that the spinal chord was damaged by splintered bone, not severed as first thought. While there is a long road ahead, it is thought that Paul may be able to walk again. That being said, I doubt we will ever see him in the ring again. His attitude has been amazing! ![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)

I was going on the original report. I still can't see him fighting again.#1 BoXa wrote:No worries Dr Brute
