BBBOC Technical draw ruling and others . R.E Quigg v Munroe
Below is the BBBOC ruling on the technical draw. The WBA has no "technical draw".
Accidental Fouls
If an accidental foul causes an injury severe enough for the referee to stop the bout immediately, the bout will result in a TECHNICAL DRAW if stopped before four (4) completed rounds. Four (4) rounds are complete when the bell rings signifying the end of the fourth round.
If an accidental foul causes an injury severe enough for the referee to stop the bout immediately after four (4) rounds have occurred, the bout will result in a TECHNICAL DECISION awarded to the boxer who is ahead on the score cards at the time the bout is stopped.
Partial or incomplete rounds will be scored. If no action has occurred, the round should be scored as an even round. This is at the discretion of the judges.
In the case of four (4) round contests the Foul Rule would come into effect at the bell ending round two.
In the case of six (6) round contests the Foul Rule would come into effect at the bell ending round three.
In the case of eight (8) round or above contests the Foul Rule would come into effect at the bell ending round four.
A fighter who is hit with an accidental low blow must continue after a reasonable amount of time but no more that five (5) minutes, or he/she will lose the bout by abandonment.
Intentional Fouls
If an intentional foul (other than a low blow) causes an injury, and the injury is severe enough to terminate the bout immediately, the boxer causing the injury shall lose by disqualification. A boxer who is hit with an intentional low blow must continue in a reasonable amount of time (but no more than five (5) minutes) unless the referee in his absolute discretion disqualifies the offending boxer.
If an intentional foul causes an injury and the bout is allowed to continue, the referee shall notify the authorities and deduct two (2) points from the boxer who caused the foul. Point deductions for intentional fouls that do not cause injury will be at the discretion of the referee.
If the contest continues and at a later round it needs to be stopped because of the same injury, the rules in relation to accidental fouls will apply.
If the boxer injures himself while attempting to intentionally foul his opponent, the referee will not take any action in his favour, and this injury will be the same as one produced by a fair blow.
If the referee feels that a boxer has conducted himself in an unsportsman-like manner, he may stop the bout and disqualify the boxer.

There is no mention of technical draws in the WBA rules. I can't cut and paste the WBA regs as its a pdf file.
Was the fight held under BBBOC rules or WBA? My guess would be WBA as its for their title.
Controversial?

If this fight was being held under WBA rules it should have been called a "NO DECISION" I reckon.

If it is for one of their' titles then it's their rules, regardless of which country it is in. If it's for more than one title of that nature (ie a WBO and WBA Inter title as Haye v Chisora is) then it goes by the unified rules, which are the same (I am 99% sure that all the big 4 bodies have exactly the same rules with regards to these things, for the sake of simplicity.)The Insider wrote:If this fight was being held under WBA rules it should have been called a "NO DECISION" I reckon.
Thus if under the WBA rules that should have been a no contest then in the next few days it will changed to that, I'm fairly sure.

Is it normal for a world title fight to also have the British title on the line?

I'm not sure here but was the British title even on the line? I thought I heard prior to the off that if Quigg won he would be stripped of the belt.

The british wasnt on the line, its for the wba title, so this should be a no contest no?

The WBA Inter something title, but same idea. You can't have one of those and the British title on the line.bigped wrote:Hagler2002 wrote:I'm not sure here but was the British title even on the line? I thought I heard prior to the off that if Quigg won he would be stripped of the belt.

If under the WBA rules this should have been a no contest then they will step in over the coming days. In fact surely the WBA supervisor there should have ensured this was the case already.

Pretty bad james, as i had mates who had thousands on either guy and both have lost there bets, even though it will be changed its no good for them bookies are laughing.jameswilson wrote:The WBA Inter something title, but same idea. If the result is changed to a no contest (And like I say, it should be) then when it happens just let your mates know, and tell them to email the bookies, and tell them what to say in their email (ie the rules weren't properly adhered to, and a NC should have been given immediately, as outlined here at this link in the WBA rules.) The bookies should then refund those bets.bigped wrote:

Here's the WBA's rules
b) ACCIDENTAL BLOWS: If the referee sees, or after consulting with
the doctor he concludes that a boxer has been injured in an accidental
manner, and as a consequence of this wound, the boxer is not able to
continue the fight, he shall IMMEDIATELY notify the Local
Commission representatives, the fight supervisor who represents the
World Boxing Association, and the judges of the fight, that the fight has
ended.
Should under the same circumstances (intentional unfair blow), the fight
could be resumed the referee shall notified the above mentioned
persons that the wound was produced by an accidental blow, for if the
wound gets worse in subsequent rounds and the suspension of the fight
would be deemed necessary, the decision to call shall be as follows:
NO DECISION: In case that both boxers are in a draw in the judges
scorecards, or in case that no more than four (4) rounds have passed
at the time he stopped the fight.
TECHNICAL DECISION: In favor of the boxer that is in advantage in the judges’ scorecards.

If nothing happens by the middle of the week I'd suggest someone emails the WBA. Sounds odd given we are mere fans, but if nobody else can be arsed.
Re: BBBOC Technical draw ruling and others . R.E Quigg v Munroe
I had a 5 fight accumulator with Ladbrokes....backed Quigg to win at 8/13. Had a big wedge on, so this crazy decision to call it a TD has cost me a lot of money. I emailed LAdbrokes this morning, and they are saying its settled as a draw....and decision is final

Once the decision is changed. Email them again, and shove the WBA regs down their throat and say their final decision is unjust and that you won't bet with them again if they uphold this decision.harry1980 wrote:I had a 5 fight accumulator with Ladbrokes....backed Quigg to win at 8/13. Yeah, that's what I'm planning to do....but I suppose I'll just have to accept that my money is lost. There's no way now they will change their minds and void my bet

I wouldn't get your hopes up, I work in the betting industry and id imagine they'll have something in the rules that says bets will be settled on the result given on the night irrespective of any chang in future, abit like Hopkins/ Dawson 1 was ruled a TKO win for Dawson for betting purposes.

Oh really? That's interesting. Yeah I'm sure they would have rules set like that, obviously they have paid out the guys who backed the draw, and thus they aren't going to be reclaiming that money.jamiedavies02 wrote:I wouldn't get your hopes up, I work in the betting industry and id imagine they'll have something in the rules that says bets will be settled on the result given on the night irrespective of any chang in future, abit like Hopkins/ Dawson 1 was ruled a TKO win for Dawson for betting purposes.
Incompetence on the part of the people on the night who were responsible for having the result given as it was. I don't know whether it's down to the ref or the supervisors or what.
