If true I wonder if Wales will get any apologies from a thread he started a few years ago....
Re: Larry O handed doping ban
Don't really think the drugs themselves would have any negative affect on endurance. If anything, they might have reduced his fatigue.dve3333 wrote:I have to say I remember how quickly he gassed against Sexton. Thinking back it was a tell tale sign that he was on the juice.
Having to supply oxygen to a 260lbs enhanced physique is clearly going to be a lot tougher than a natural 220lbs though.

Its rife in a lot of sports. Look at athletics, probably the most tested sport out there and they're still at it. So a sport that isn't strictly monitored is obviously going to have a huge problem.
I'm just watching Chavez Jnr V's Lee and I find it quite ironic the amount of strength and power Chavez has gained since linking up with Freddie Roach.
There's no smoke without fire.

I was thinking about how this might work. Dwaine Chambers had to pay back the prize money he won as he wanted to compete again and the IAAF is the only show in town.sweetscience wrote:he had zero skill just brute strengh & it turns out that was due to cheating
whats the point ? he should be made to return ALL his purses
Boxers have no overarching controlling authority (as shown by Haye-Chisora) so who could order a boxer to pay it back and stop him appearing on future cards on a Luxembourg license?
Re: Larry O handed doping ban
I've never been a huge Larry fan... I felt he got too much credit for turning his life around after serving time for his convictions. A lot of fighters don't get credit for not getting into trouble in the firstplace. But fair enough, we've all done a bit of this or that, and everyone deserves a second chance.
Now it looks like he's been taking the piss the whole time. Pity nobody was checking the said piss.
The trip to the Wild Card Gym seems a long time ago now.

But will we see his face again?MachoMan09 wrote:In Larry's case it would seem Richard Ashcroft's lyrics were never so apt: the drugs don't work they just make you worse.

To be fair, a guy with as much experience as McDermott was always winning that fight, in spite of what the bookies said.Benelio wrote:Makes McDermott's win look even more impressive now.

At the bottom Robert Smith states that cheats cant hide. Well six years is pretty successful.

What is Larry's username on here? Cheers.

I feel sorry for all his opponents he fought over those six years. They thought they were facing an opponent who was not under the influence but it turned out the extreme opposite.

As Macho said though, it's a bit sad that it's happened via an E-mail from the US DEA, rather than testing our end.

In all seriousness I've never being tested. I was with mike Gomez when he was tested before the burns fight, and I recall someone else being tested too but can't think who it was...
Larry is a nice guy- this is a terrible failing on his part, but obviously he felt it was required to be competitive, I wouldn't be surprised if its pretty rife unfortunately.
It is massively common in MMA

Think this is all on the money. Will be interesting to see if Larry chooses to comment on how rife it actually is in British boxing...Jeff Thomas wrote:Larry is a nice guy- this is a terrible failing on his part, but obviously he felt it was required to be competitive, I wouldn't be surprised if its pretty rife unfortunately.

It would be out of him, Fury and McDermottMachoMan09 wrote: I mean, let's be honest, if I put all the active British heavies in a line (including Larry) and asked 100 people to write down which one they thought took steroids, I'm guessing Larry, on looks alone, would be a hands down winner.
Re: Larry O handed doping ban
Larry would have been better off without the drugs. As I've said in a previous post back when he was fighting Sexton. He was just way to bulky which made him slow and would have probably lead to stamina issues if he had gone into the latter rounds of the fight. I got blasted from a couple of people about my bulky statement.
He always looked like a WWE wrestler to me and not a boxer and now we know why.

The ammount of threatening PMs. PMs for slander and even phone calls I had to take it down was unbelievable. Even though at the time Larry was posting tips on Muscle talk.com about taking steroids and giving hints and tips under the name LarryO or something!!!!!
Now, my origional post (at least 2 years ago) wasnt aimed at larry in general, it was aimed at users on this board who post messages saying things like "fornicating boxer x using steroids should be fornicating banned for life" but because larry posts on here its "ah good old Larry" blagh di blagh.
Re: Larry O handed doping ban
if anyone can be arsed, I did at the time, register on muscletalk.com and search Larry O or his full name or larry and eventually you'll find laods of his posts on there. I did it at the time to prove it and was told by people on here it was a load of fucing bollocks and i was to take it down, so i did.

As a relatively new member what did you say in your posts a few years back on the situation?

Hilariously, whilst they are still there, they all have "Any posts I have made about taking performance enhancing drugs were fictitious & for entertainment purposes only. I have never used performanc" written underneath them, as if he was trying to type that as the plod came to take him away & didn't quite get to the end of the sentence.Wales wrote:if anyone can be arsed, I did at the time, register on muscletalk.com and search Larry O or his full name or larry and eventually you'll find laods of his posts on there. It reminds me of that thing you get with H. P. Lovecraft narrators, when the unnameable wossname is coming through the wall to tear your soul out but you just keep writing & writing about it as it closes in then-AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!
{sound of blood dripping & interdimensional monstrosity chomping on narrator's carcass}
