Re: Rhodes v rabchenko
Looking forward to this one, I think rab will come out fast and try and force the pace but once ryan settles into his rythm I can see him breaking him down with body shots and winning on points or maybe late stoppage, rabs never been in this deep and ryan is tried and tested at this level and feels he's got a point to prove, good fight
Re: Rhodes v rabchenko
Good fight but i'm sure ryan will have far too much skill and savvy for rabchenko.

Good match up this one.
Age, craft, and experience against youth and inexperience at this level.
Game on !

I love the under dog in this case Ryan, I recon there is still life in the old dog, Ryan has allways been a classy fighter, and i recon he can pull this one off, Ricky in rabchenko corner! i would love to see Ricky+ rabchenko get egg on there faces, come on Ryan

I think this will go with youth and Rabchenko to stop a brave Rhodes late on, maybe a corner retirement

Re: Rhodes v rabchenko
I actually wrote on here stoppage by rebchenko by left hook to the body. Just thought that with Hattop in rebechnkos corner it would be poetic
Only had 40 on fight not going distance. Tried to steam in but that was maximum bet on sky. PP maximum bet was 14.50. fcuk my life. I dallied too much and was too slow

I typed that out after 3rd round.palooka wrote:Ryan is some lad hahaha what a fighter
Rabchenko was too insistent and strong; Ryan is a tough and game man; he must have been hurt bad by that punch.
Re: Rhodes v rabchenko
Took Alvarez 12....
Ive only seen the fight live, not on tv yet, and personally i thought rabchenko <sp> looked superb. His movement and footwork was superb and he has power too. Ricky may have unearthed a little gem there... Like i say not seen it on tv yet

You nearly hit the Nail on the head, i remember reading what you wrote and in round 3 i thought you'd be cashing in........
Re: Rhodes v rabchenko
It didnt look like he was that great on TV to be honest he's good but not amazing, i thought Rhodes was winning by quite a large margin but for the life of me i cant see the shot that dropped him in the end even on the replays (i was knackered though).Wales wrote:Took Alvarez 12....

Re: Rhodes v rabchenko
Only saw a bit of the fight, Ryan seemed to be winning by just accurately pot shoting from range, Rabchenko was just walking his man down and looking for short shots (none of which appeared to have any real snap or power) the next thing I know Ryan was on the deck from probably the most inconspicuous body shot I have ever seen (though I don’t for a second doubt that Ryan was in real pain).

Re: Rhodes v rabchenko
Did you know on the official score sheets they'd got Rabchenko 4 rounds to 2 up on two scorecards and level on the other.
That really surprised me.

Re: Rhodes v rabchenko
I meant to text you, 26, the seats were great.
I felt Ryan did the cleaner and much sharper work and had him ahead, but I felt Rabchenko was always dangerous, stalking and landing good counters. It was weird watching it back on HD later that night, it was much, much closer on TV to the point I only just about had Ryan ahead, if at all.
Great 3rd round too.
I'd love to see Rabchenko or Rhodes in with Lucas Konecny, although with him being interim (?) WBO champ now, it's unlikely.

Rabchenko was wearing him down , he would have got to Ryan eventually without the glancing punch , It hit him in the side of his pec muscle you wouldn't think that would be such a wind'er

Re: Rhodes v rabchenko
Glad to hear it Orb.
When it all kicked off I thought thank God our lads are in the floor seats !
Your summary is exactly how I felt mate.
I had Ryan ahead by two watching live but having seen the TV coverage it was closer.
Los,
Ryan was told by a journo on his way to the live interview that he had it 6-1 incuding the 7th (there were only a matter of seconds to go) hence his comment.
I managed to see the official cards as they were signed off by the officials.
Anyway scores are irrelevent when a fighter gets stopped.
I honestly thought he'd got him in the 3rd but fair play to Rabchenko having at first looked as though he was going down, he rallied really quickly.

Re: Rhodes v rabchenko
I think the whole place was on their feet when he landed that 1-2 in the 3rd. Less intelligent boxers would have steamed in trying to finish it but Rabchenko recovered quickly and was always looking sharp with counters. As Ryan said in the TV interview - The gym rumours were that he had a serious chin on him - So he did right not to try and look for a finisher.

Re: Rhodes v rabchenko
Everybody had done their homework mate but we honestly felt he had never experienced shots with the power that Ryan lands at.
It's ok to be doing the business in the gym but fight night is where it counts.
Fair play to Rabchenko because I am convinced there are quite a few Light Middles who would have gone down from that shot and not got up.
He had it drilled into to him that he must not wade in and get caught with a sucker punch if he rocked him.

What next? Has he got the motivation to drop back down to domestic level after a rest?
