Who should David Price fight next?????

Post by PokerRob »

It shouldnt be long until David Price annouces his next fight. However if you where his promoter/manager, who would you have him fighting next?
Personally I would like to see him in a fight with European Champion Kubrat Pulev, if he could add the EBU title to his British and Commonweath titles it would put him in a great position. If not perhaps Odlanier Solis or the overrated Helenius, however I think there is little chance Helenius promoter/manager would take that fight!
No cans like Tyson Fury, he doesnt need to be protected like fury does!

Yeah I see what your saying, the risk isnt worth the reward. However I think there would be little risk!

Helenius beat Price as an amateur. He's a good fighter, its just he fought chisora on a night when Dereck really performed.

There's an Aussie boxer called Marc DeMori, who'd be a good opponent to have as an American debut. As an American debut I want a guy who Price can beat, who has a reasonably ranking but not a complete stiff. DeMori despite having a KO loss on his record has strung together a long run and holds a WBC Pacific title so has a top 30 ranking with the WBC. He may not be that much of a step up from Sexton, but on your American debut you don't really want to be taking that much of a risk. Also we have to be realistic about who would be willing to take the fight.

That's obviously one of the most desirable names because the 2 have been heavily linked for the Khan undercard.

Perez, Helenius, Pulev, etc are the stuff of fantasy for Price's next effort. At best it'll be someone like Chazz Wetherspoon if it's in the US, a yardstick their viewers know to mark Price by.

Browne would get destroyed. He's a mid 30's novice whose fought no one of note and is miles away from Price. Browne and Towers have seemingly been having goodish, equal spars. That's not Price's level

Franklin Lawrence, David Rodriguez, Jason Estrada, Malik Scott, Bowie Tupou or Derric Rossy would make for interesting fights.

I hope it's not someone meaningless like Galen Brown or Matthew Greer.

Timur Ibragimov or chazz Witherspoon IMO, Seth Mitchell's last two opponents and would be good to see how he deals with them

someone solid....who hasnt been stopped...and is over 6ft3

but ideally Rossy, guinn, or damian wills would be good. all beatable , and a quick ko would be hugely impressive

Monte Barrett maybe? Nothing special by any means but if you have a weakness he'll expose it!

I would love for it to be David Rodriguez. Put an end to that perfect record, but odds of David Rodriguez taking that fight=0%.
Seth Mitchell likes to keep active so should be due a fight soon and the end of July would be perfect timing for him, but I dont see David Price taking on someone like Seth Mitchell in his American debut, wouldnt be smart. The smart move would indeed be Chazz Witherspoon or Franklin Lawrence (how he is ranked 11th in the world by Boxrec I dont know), but please let it be James Tony lol!

I hope not - it would be a meaningless fight. Why not Derric Rossy, Jason Estrada, or Franklin Lawrence?

I was never expecting a spectacular opponent for an American debut.
