I think Alex has matured into quite a humble guy now.

I can't think y they overlooked Scott Harrison.

Think he was an outstanding amature for scotland won everything at national level and then went on to win commenwealth games for his country, as a pro british/commentwaelth/europeon and world champ, holds a win over current champ ricky burns, in his spare time hes does talks at churches and schools, and his now set up his own promotion company to try hold more show in scotland, so taking all that in to account can see why hes been nominated for his services to boxing

He was a highly decorated amateur no doubt about it plus he won everything worth winning at super feather. He must do alot of community/charity work that seems to go unnoticed. Fair play to the guy I've always liked him.

To be fair the award was for services to the sport? Scott achieved much much more than AAA by winning a world title twice were AAA had it handed to him a lost in 1st defence,i can only think his work with the church must of helped but congrats to AAA. So it's services to the church and not his sport?

i thought scott won the interim and was upgraded? Could be wrong. I dont really put much value into the "two time champ" tag as he should never have really lost it in the 1st place to a decrepid medina. I appreciate u got a lot of history with him and his family so totally respect if you have a different opinion, plus u obv in better position to judge his talents.

Dont get me wrong, i used to love watching Scott in his pomp, in fact i watched the Brodie fight only yesterday. He was so strong and really had a bit of dog to him, but scott hardly behaved the model pro did he? What with the no shows vs cooke and out of the ring antics. hardly the fighter you'd hold up as a shining example to youngsters.

Incidently, have seen him training for his comeback? If so, how is he looking and honestly how far do u think he could go? Do u think he should fight derry?

Being honest I was surprised when I read this.

Against Nicky Cook - He lost fair and square, admitted as much in the post-fight interview and was talking about "me, Nicky and our wives are all going to go for a meal after" blah blah "I've lots of respect for Nicky" blah.

Then immediately used the press to attack the terrible "English" judges that robbed him, that Nicky never beat him. The English stole his title.

I think Harrison won the interim then beat Chacon for the full title so he done it the proper way as opposed to Arthur who won it out the ring and lost on the first defence.

Why would i have the green eye mate,Alex is a very good fighter but ive trained two world champions in there day much better than Alex,thats not critisim thats just fact.
Remember when Alex needed a coach for the Steve Foster fight he asked me so stop trying to stir trouble and if he ever fights for a title again and needed sparring i'd gladly help him.

What about John Conteh & Alan Minter definitely 2 British greats from yesteryear who won genuine World Titles, Im not into this interim nonsense you either win a World Title or you dont.
I am pleased to hear that Terry Downes has finally been recognised for his ring efforts and has been awarded the British Empire Medal, well done Terry but you should have got it years ago, just like Terry Spinks who they also took too long in giving it to.

Wonder if he will retire this year? I know he talked about it ,but he hasent fought for ages ,and hasent put a show on for a while either... If he retires ,i wouldent be surprised tbh but still think he could compete at British Level at least ...he was offerd the fight with woodhouse.
