The steroid stamina thing is an old wives tale probably coming from fat roid heads being to lazy to do cardio.... It can improve stamina.

Yes, steroids are not the only PEDS. LArry took 13. ALso, there's lots of PED abuse in endurance sports (swimming, cycling.)

Maybe he was just addicted to being ridiculously muscular and they weren't for performance enhancement at all.
This.

It's a shame. He is now paying for it with the loss of his career, income etc.. Let's not get all internet hardman on him. Yes, a disgrace for roiding in the ring, but as said above, he lived that life before the ring, and maybe not let go. He seems to have gave them more than they had on him which shows remorse.

As a poster I welcome him back. He is still a fan after all.

I see Larry O is defending himself, saying everybody's at it, common practice. He quotes Jones, Mosley and Toney.

He forgets to mention that the usual conclusion they came to is that steroids are no help to boxers whatsoever (think SRL mentioned it too?). Being musclebound is no help to what top boxers need to be, as LO's 'career' and ability level would testify. Steroids do not help speed, footwork, timing, technique, or seeing shots coming.

They MIGHT help prolong training, stamina a bit (ie what athletes use them for), but as LO's stamina was hardly legendary, maybe his overuse of the 'aids' may just suggest to the gullible that there's not much point?

As for people on here aiming darts at PAC and even Haye, how very silly. PAC has to overeat before fights to get and stay close to 147, and the before and after pics are , as some have noted, missing nearly 20 years (he was a pro as a teenager). Haye is light for a heavy, managed to squeeze down to cruiser to win titles and get himself noticed. He could I suppose put on 2 stones of flab, stay in MacDonalds for a month, end up looking like Kevin Johnson in the Prizefighter.

The one point LO made worth noting is re painkillers (so other drugs) that the likes of Fairweather reputedly take for dodgy mitts, hence will only fight in a few States (where it's ok). But that's no justification for what he was doing.

This guy makes a great point about steroids not helping your technique and talks about how in sparring he gets beaten up by kids who are skillful. Very insightful I think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CN3Ov37__Ew

I guess it just shows though that you can take an industrial amount of PEDS and still be shite though!

Don't assume because someone
Is fat or looks out of shape that they ain't on steroids

How anyone can feel sorry for Larry O is beyond me. If any sportsman who many people including young children look up to, chooses to go down the ilicit dirty drug route to enhance their performance, then that person deserves to have the book thrown at them, and this has been going on for 6 years so no excuse he took them by accident. What is surprising is that he has been doing it for so long and its taken this long for it to come out.
Myself I have no time for cheats and whatever ban he has been given is well deserved :shame:

Nah, a lot of them improve your stamina, thousands of different ones out there for different purposes.

As for what Larry did in boxing, simple, he posted on here.

As for the money, its only about 40 quid for 10ml but he'd be mixing 2 types at once depending what he was doing (mass muscle gain, stamina, lean muscle etc..) so 80 quid would be 20ml and id guess he waas jabbing between 6-8ml a week again depending which. So 80 quid would give you 20ml, max 8ml a week so 16 every two week would equal around 160 a month on his roids. I know lads that'd blow that on a saturday night out!

so where does larry go from here........

will he continue with his physique and social habits and fight on the unlicensed arena?

will he whistle blow within the pro game?

will he mahe himself clean and we will see him drop his bulk whilst staying relatively fit and looking lean?

Turned pro at 28, did he have much of an amateur career?

Unliscenced scene, a fight with mark potter whos one of top EBF heavies isnt he? Make a buck in that scene if he can find opponents. Size and attributes I doubt he'll have roo much trouble finding work in London, just hope its the right side of the law, saying that up to him if it isnt.

Personal security?

Some do, some dont. Depends what you want. Boldenone for example increases your red bloody cells allowing you to essentially carry more oxygen. I think winstrol too, thats an oral tablet so it hammers your liver if you drink etc.... While taking. I train in what can only be described as a juice gym, and whilst i dont partake myself, its a bit like not boxing but reading on here. Except your not juicing but listening ro conversations.

It would be out of him, Fury and McDermott
Looks alone dont tell the full story as I am sure both Macho and Deserter appreciate.

Both Frans Botha and James Toney have been done for anabolic steriods over the years, all while sporting sizeable guts.
Indeed. The pro-Toney camp used his physique as proof of his innocence, but steroids don't burn fat on their own. They increase musculature and boost performance, yes, but they don't magically create Adonis physiques without accompanying effort. Toney was a notoriously lax trainer and so I suspect he turned to steroids as a way to cut corners more than anything.

As for the line of PEDs don't benefit boxers because Larry didn't get very far, they're hardly an automatic passport to world class. Without PEDs, Larry may have been 3-10 rather than 10-3.

While the unlicensed circuit has no regulation and thus is probably stacked top to bottom with users, who would want to fight someone who is PROVEN as one and has solid pro experience? Given his appearance and power, few at that level would fancy it anyway, let alone when they KNOW he would have an edge too!

Yeah haye's gained weight steadily over his career, i would be pretty shocked if he was on something he loves himself too much and he is a proper gym rat.
