EBU-EU title fights - Lenny Daws, Luke Wilton, Craig Lyon

Post by turbostar »

EBU have ordered the following for their lesser belt:

Fly: Xavier Urpi v Luke Wilton
Bantam: Anthony Settoul v Craig Lyon
Light-welter: Lenny Daws v Ville Piispanen

Towers holds the HW belt after beating Tony as well.
This title might mean sweet FA but it does throw up some interesting match-ups between some of the guys ranked outside the top 3 in their division in the UK and some decent Euro level fighters.

Thought Lyon was out for a while to get his skin sorted out due to all the cuts he gets?

The title certainly doesnt mean "sweet FA" as far as I am concerned.

Its a direct route to the EBU title and for smaller boxing nations (i.e. not Italy, Germany, France, UK) its pretty much the only or at least best way to get a EBU ranking.

It's an under-rated title I think. Ultimately the Commonwealth title has history attached to it, but what do you actually get? You aren't guranteed any kind of ranking if you have it. The European union title tho gurantees you a ranking in the European ratings and if you keep defending it you'll find yourself flying up them.
