P4P SEASON WEEK 10 MATCHUPS:
Re: P4P SEASON WEEK 10 MATCHUPS:
I agree with Crease.

Nope, you got everything right, I double-checked there. Thanks mate.dandrews010 wrote:UPDATED - Let me know if its wrong - Chances are it will be somewhere along the line, i'm toss.
Re: P4P SEASON WEEK 10 MATCHUPS:
And as a reminder, if Ali vs Marciano isn't made for the Lonsdale Title this week, Muhammad Ali will have a non-title fight against Sonny Liston:

Re: P4P SEASON WEEK 10 MATCHUPS:
Why not match them, Villa vs Monzon?BoxBuzz wrote:I will match up Villa and Monzon with pool fighters......and this happens over the weekend.
They are both pretty close in the rankings: (Monzon's got 10 pts, Villa's got 8 pts)
Match 'em up, that's what I say.

It's alright, I only said it in an effort to get Saddler a title shot!dandrews010 wrote:This quote will haunt you forever Kevo.kevo wrote:I agree with Crease.

anyone want villa?

Crease wrote:BoxBuzz, as much as I'd love to see a Marciano vs Ali matchup, I have to disagree with you on this case. If you allow this it will set a dangerous presidence for the rest of the season.BoxBuzz wrote:I believe that a unification is sensible in this case. To back down from a reasonable offer of unification would smack of conflict of interest and be subject to litigation.
Currently as it stands, Marciano has achieved 1 defence & Ali has not defended his title yet.
By the rule of law, they are both inelligible for a Unification fight.Thank you for saying that, Buzz but there does need to be consistency here, we can't just change the rules whenever we want to suit ourselves... Neither fighter deserves a Unification contest. It's just not fair on the Champions who have come before, and it's not fair on the Champions who will come after.BoxBuzz wrote:It has been Creases' history to be forthright and operate with integrity. I don't think he would hide behind a regulatory asterisk that required each belt holder to be in possession of said belt for some commission determined arbitrary length of time.Boxbuzz please don't do this... I understand your eagerness for this contest to be Lonsdalised... So I have a propostion for you:BoxBuzz wrote:It is my ruling that such a unification can, should and will take place. Granted it is unusual, and if this were another manager other than a co- commissioner I would allow for "hiding behind regulatory obfuscation."
This unification will go forward. And....as always, the first test of such courage will bring with it (if nothing else) Lonsdale pride.
1. Marciano agrees to fight Ali for the Lonsdale Title!!!
(provided this contest is neither a WBO Title fight nor a WBA Title fight)
2. Marciano will will drop his WBO Title to fight Ali for the Lonsdale Title!!!
(provided that Ali is required to drop his WBA Title)
3. If under the above stipulations, a Rock vs Ali fight cannot be made...
Rocky would then be satified to have a non-title fight against Jersey Joe Walcott.
Buzz, Ali vs Marciano can be made for the Lonsdale Title, I have absolutely no problem with that but this should not be sanctioned as a Unification fight, honestly sir, this is a bad idea.
Please don't do it.
humble Regards,
Crease
...seeing as Kevo has agreed with you
I simply called the bluff.....I knew there would be fear struck into the hearts of both camps......so Lonsdale is out....since neither embraced the full richness of the moment.
Dangerous precedent? Ok..you sold me...both camps feeling the danger of loss of pride..............but Lonsdale can not be compromised by two champions unwilling to take a full risk.
So....who will fight whom? Once sorted it shall be run.
I'll run it tomorrow night. Each champion must have an opponent.
Monzon Villa? It's not on the board though it Sounds good
Marciano will face?
Ali will face?
A loss to a non top ten opponent by either champion...and the titles will either be owned by the dark horse.....OR....become vacant. No precedent for this so we will pave a new road.
Re: P4P SEASON WEEK 10 MATCHUPS:
Sorry for late reply. Ali accepts Saddlers challenge if it's not too late although a fight with Marciano is what he wants, but if Crease is too much of a duck then so be it. A non title fight against Liston is last resort.
Re: P4P SEASON WEEK 10 MATCHUPS:
Saddler Ali. Sounds good
Marciano Walcott....good
Does this fill the schedule?

Re: P4P SEASON WEEK 10 MATCHUPS:
Benny Leonard is sitting pretty at the top of the rankings, any Lonsdale happenings should involve him.

Good point, that.Deadendgeneration wrote:Benny Leonard is sitting pretty at the top of the rankings, any Lonsdale happenings should involve him.
Re: P4P SEASON WEEK 10 MATCHUPS:
And so with Muhammad Ali agreeing a WBA Title defence against Sandy Saddler.
A contest between Pancho Villa versus Carlos Monzon
And Marciano having a non-title contest against Jersey Joe Walcott.
THE CARD IS NOW COMPLETE
