The 100 Greatest Fighters Pound per Pound of All-Time
Re: The 100 Greatest Fighters Pound per Pound of All-Time
Hi Elmer
You have Marciano and Dempsey next to one another.
Is that how you see the fight going between them? Marciano just winning?

No I just don't see it in the way of whom would have beaten whom. I believe that the great Rocky Marciano accomplished more than the great Jack Dempsey. Thanks for asking.

Re: The 100 Greatest Fighters Pound per Pound of All-Time
Scrolling through the list the following thought popped into my head.....there seems to be an over-representation of HW's on the list and in P4P lists, in general. They also seem to be more prevalent in the top 50 than the bottom 50
Is it simply because they were the better fighters or is it because they're the big boys, and therefore they have a more lasting impact on us?
For decades the adage 'as go the the HW's, so goes boxing" was very true. Everyone focused on the division and almost every kid interested in boxing wanted to be the HW champ if he could choose his division
Any thoughts?
p.s. this is not to hang shit on Elmer's list. It's just a general thought

Duran would have lost to Gavilan if they ever fought. So I would rank Gavilan higher than 40.elmersalsa wrote:The great Kid Gavilan is in the top 50 of the list. Didn't you see it? He is a top 50 in my book.BarryWashington wrote:No Gavilan? Come on now.

Kid Gavilan was a good fighter, but i cant how he would rate above any more than a handful of fighters above him. To be honest, i think that there would be more that are ranked behind him that should be above him, than the other way around, if anything.
