I saw him against Darren Dorrington on an undercard in Sheffield somewhere, was a pretty decent fight.

I was gonna go watch him against Rhodes but was working abroad.

No idea what happened to him after, I think he worked in a gym or something?

I might be dreaming this but didn't Jason have a detached retina after his first defence of the WBO and have to retire ?

Couple of vids of him on youtube, just watched one where he lost to Joe Calzaghe in the ABA semi's. Did Joe beat everyone of that era?

Joe was the absolute best for years and beat all the top lads at his weight; lots of them without breaking a sweat or getting out of first gear. He was THE man and he looked like a boy.

David Starie was also an exceptional talent in the unpaid ranks at a similar time to Joe. From memory Starie also halted Matthews in one.

Easy to forget just how good Calzaghe was, particularly before his hand problems.

The weight. He was a big unit. Twiglet legs but huge shoulders and arms. I think he had a lot of work to make 160 and very possibly why he struggled a bit late on in fights.
