Eh, Calzaghe v Winky Wright anyone?
I cant believe anyone can be confidentthat Winky would beat Calzaghe. First off, even if Winky was a full blown Super Middle i'd still favour Calzaghe for this one. But the fact is Winky has just stepped up from LIGHT-MIDDLE, Calzaghe is a big Super Middle contemplating going UP to light-heavy.
I'm not saying its a mis-match, Winky could do well, but i'd be shocked to my boots of he could win this one............. certainly not in the near future anyway.
There is not alot in this for Calzaghe either in my opinion. He needs to beat elite fighters in his own weight class to get my full respect. Only Hopkins name should be mentioned from the devision below, i'm not interested in Calzaghe v Taylor. Hopkins or a man his own size, or bigger, then he gets my respect!

Calzaghe v Taylor is probably the better fight. Taylor is a huge middleweight, weighs over 170 on fightnight. He is also young and quick and with good power. I think personally he would do better against Calzaghe than Hopkins.
Hopkins is the better fighter but his lack of power and speed would hurt him against Calzaghe. A few years ago a different matter, but Bernard is slowing down now and cannot maintain the workrate needed to beat Joe.

One think that comes to my mind is why would Winky fight Calzaghe? There are much better fights for him at middleweight before he would move up.
And second when you read the statements it sounds like Winky is some fighter you can just bring in as a substitute if the original fight doesn't come off. That can't be. Winky is a bigger name than Calzaghe now.
I don't know if he after this weekend has found out that it is easier to beat up a guy smaller than yourself since he now takes his eyes of his own division or all this calling out of as many fighters as possible is just another attempt to avoid the fact that he doesn't fight them and not make it look like his fault.
So how about he cleaned out his own division before he started calling out champions from other divisions. There are plenty of good fights to be made at supermiddle.

His skills have also been blunted by fighting absolute pigeons, encouraging him to whale away with those wild shots.
He did however turn in a good performance against Mger Mykrtchian, but then he was hardly in with a world beater.
Trying to remember how to box whilst facing someone like Lacy is a tall order. A year ago I would have made Calzaghe favourite, now, I favour Lacy to stop him.

lol at winky can't defeat calzaghe, that made me laugh.
First of all, winky has no reason to fight calzaghe for small money. He can get better fights and will be looking at hopkins vs taylor. That's why calzaghe and warren are stating winky's name, DO NOT BE fooled by this guys Geezz, they know very well that winky has no reason to fight calzaghe.
Calzaghe looking at smaller men??? What a pussy, we all know lacy will knock the lil fornicator clean out. As warren usually states "priority is to look after my fighters". Of course, an undefeated record looks good for his "match making skills" and calzaghe to naive fans. Calzaghe has it easier fightin winky at that weight, if calzaghe wants to fight him then it should be at middleweight.
Lacy can easily make the fight with kessler and taylor down the line for good $$$. Calzaghe knows lacy can get better fights but respect to lacy in being determined to knock this cocky prick calzaghe out.
The ashira fight was a joke, not much of a title defence was it? The mans' a joka and the lil pussy has the nerve to whine about not getting the respect he craves for.

I do agree Lacy doesn't need Calzaghe. I think he would like to fight him to prove a point, but if Calzaghe wants to make things difficult, Lacy can still go on to dominate the division anyhow, he's got 2-4 years at his peak left, and Joe is on the way out so he will get over it.
There's Kessler, Mundine, Green, Beyer, Haussler, Tsypko (again), and Librado Andrade and Scott Pemberton out there, all decent names, and each one another notch on the belt.

Winky's got enough on his plate with a whole younger generation of good middleweights. So far so good - Tito is an ex titlist - but Taylor, Ikeke, Sturm, Abraham, Soliman etc will be big and testing enough. These are fresh and ambitious guys who will put up tough fights. Plus Winky has a chance to become a home attraction after all these years. Winky's the top contender to undisputed champ Jermain Taylor, so what does he want with a WBO title in Wales?
Only reasons for the fight are that Warren is calling in King to help him out (as with the Judah-Hatton proposal), who has an option of Winky; that Winky can actually make 168; and that Winky is avoided long enough.

This fights just be mentioned as an option, it won't happen - Winky won't want it. I think Lacy-Calazage will happen, I just can't see who else Lacy will fight. No one knows Kessler outside of Denmark, Beyer won't want to unify, LHW would have there way with Lacy (although the Tarver-Jones winner is possible). Lacy claims he can make middleweight so maybe he'll fight Taylor. But Calazage is still his best bet

I was wrong, they've contacted KEssler for November already, Beyer turned down the fightPhenomenal-Nutrition wrote:This fights just be mentioned as an option, it won't happen - Winky won't want it. Winky and Lacy are good friends - wouldn't be nice of Winky to get in the way of Lacy's fights. The two Floridians can make a serious impact in their respective divisions.
Right now I have to say JC is a level below Kessler and Lacy. They seem fitter, stronger and hungrier & have been meeting a igher level of opposition recently. If Lacy's ppl have contacted Kessler's, I'm glad.
It's the best fight in the division. Kessler is willing to travel for fights - the biggest money fights are all away from Denmark. Very hard to pick between them. So what if no one knows Kessler, he's good & he makes for a damn good fight.

I know, Kessler beat the stuffing out of Manny Siaca to win the WBA title. It was funny, on the Danish broadcast the commentator suddenly broke into English & said "Mikkel Kessler is fornicating champion of the world!"jamesmcdonnell wrote:Err, and he has a belt....viciousmaussa wrote:Winky and Lacy are good friends - wouldn't be nice of Winky to get in the way of Lacy's fights. Whoever wins between he and Lacy (if it happens) can call themself a true champ. Kessler likes it when an opponent comes to him (& hates it when he as to do the chasing, as with Mundine). Might be a bit too well rounded and physically strong for Lacy.
Not been very active though with his back troubles
