Tony Doherty and Gary Lockett write up

Post by E »

Managed to see this write up of the fight:

Sounds like Jones - Doherty was a good scrap, though I would have hoped Doherty would have dominated more.

Jones is tough and decent, but should be beaten more convincingly by someone tipped for 'world' honours.

Lockett blasted out Gray in 2 rounds. Great result - I am sure I read in the Boxing news preview that gray had never been on the floor, though it seems Delroy MEllis stopped him.

Sounds like he was totally starched by Gary.

Lockett is a huge puncher, I hope he manages to fulfil his potential - he has had setback, injuries and health scare.

Seems that these fights were on the Calzaghe bill - not sure why the Middleton Guardian only reported it today......!!!!

Gray's stoppage by Mellis was on cuts, nobody has dropped Gray, and certainly not knocked him out. Apparantly an hour later Gray was still a mess.. an hour later!! Poor fellow.

Tony did leave it till late to beat Taz Jones, but that was down to his not working hard, Jones never had him in any bother, Tony was just being a bit complacent. Tony totally outclassed him. Although, he did take more shots than I think he should have!
