And lets not go the Conn route of mistaking Tunney for a smaller Ali. They had major distinctions.

The Dempsey who lost to Tunney beats The Ali who won vs Foreman? Ali was old vs Foreman but still managed to win.

Dempsey was stopped only once in over 83 fights, and that was a likely dive. Dempsey getting dropped/stunned by Firpo and Carpentier isn't any worse than Frazier getting hurt and dropped twice by Bonavena or having his knees buckle vs Joe Bugner/Manuel Ramos.

I wonder how rosy the, "facts," would be for Joe Frazier had he had approx. twice as many career bouts as he did, and didnt face a true great until his penultimate fight?

Joe has a hell of a lot more amateur fights. And as a gold medal winner would have had money men backing him.
