BOOTH AND CASEY WANT NORTH EAST WIN
Nottingham’s Jason Booth and Ireland’s Willie Casey can’t wait for their forthcoming trip to Sunderland. The pair will headline the ‘Summer Rumble 2’ bill at the Stadium of Light on July 15 when they clash for the WBA European super-bantamweight belt, and both men are confident of victory and eager to put on a great performance.
“I’ve enjoyed fighting in the North East in the past,” said Booth, who has boxed in region twice before, beating Michael Hunter in a British title defence (16 October 2009) and losing a world title challenge to Steve Molitor in 2010. “When I fought Hunter in Sunderland, the crowd were great and it was a good experience for me. The North East fans like their boxing and they always turn out. I’m really looking forward to coming back.
“Willie Casey is a very aggressive, come forward southpaw,” continued Jason. “He’s strong and a good fighter. I rate him as high as the other good opponents that I’ve boxed, but I’m confident I can overcome him.”
Casey has boxed all over. The Prizefighter winner has fought in rings in Denmark, Canada, London and Ireland. For the chance to face Booth though, the big punching, former European champion is champing at the bit to get on the plane for his first visit to the North East.
“I’m really looking forward to coming over,” said Willie, “I hear it’s great up there and I’m really excited about fighting in Sunderland. The boxing fans are knowledgeable and I’m sure some of the supporters will remember me from winning Prizefighter. I’ve also been training in Belfast for the last year and have gained a bit of support there too, so I’m sure some will make the trip over and enjoy the boxing.
“I’m excited that this fight is happening, training’s going well and I just can’t wait for it now. Jason’s very experienced and he’s very relaxed when he’s in the ring. I’m hoping that he brings that hunger and desire for wanting to get back to the top again because if he does then it’s going to make for a great fight. I’d never take Jason lightly, he’s boxed in the big league and it would be very easy to be picked off for 12 rounds. It’s a fight I’m not prepared to lose and I’ll do whatever it takes to get this win under my belt.”

i hope booth can win but i think his time has come now, hope he gets a fight to sign off in nottingham :) hes been a pro since i was in primary school

I would like too see both at bantam one fight he makes the weight easy now that's we're it's hard with most fighter s it's the weight what's harder than the fight s

I've never really rated Casey to be fair. I've always liked watching Booth, 18 months ago he might have beaten Casey but 3 losses in a row including 2 stoppages hardly bodes well. I can't see him winning this.
