Hatton and the WBU

Post by Zhuge »

Now that he's split with Warren, does Hatton still hold the WBU trinket?

Apparently it appears he still holds the WBU belt...didn't he say this during the press conference?

I watched the press conference, and the WBU belt was proudly on display. So yes, Hatton still holds the trouser-lifter.

the wbu title has done none of these boxers any favours imo.
Wayne Alexander
Emaon Magee
Steve Foster jnr

Only Magee has defended his title.

I noticed that Lockett v Rhodes might be for this mickey mouse belt.

HAtton should just stick that belt in his trophy case he won for memories and achievements and vacate the title.

Do the WBU ever have mandatories. How many years has Hatton been their champion and not a mandatory in sight.

The WBU is a total joke. To call a fight between Lockett and Rhodes a 'world title' fight is a disgrace and insult to the intelligence. But then Frwanks been doing this for years now.

Casual fans don't care what title it is as long as they think it's a good fight though.

But normally it is nothing like a good fight and the WBU champ usually defends against someone not even in the same weight class.
Mind you WBO'champs' do this as well... look at Calzaghes recent 'fight'!.

The truth is that many fans today don't know what a good fight is. They've been fed so much dross that when they see a half way competitive fight they think its a thriller!..... 8)

As much as i hate the WBU i have to admit if i was a limited domestic fighter i'd love to have one. But for a world class fighter like Hatton there is no reason to be involved with this poor organisation

dont be stupid. it is an independent sanctioning body. it cant be very independent if they have an exclusive deal with a promoter. he has good links with them and the wbo, thats for sure. he likes to use em to paper up his fighters and im surprised hatton didnt get the wbo instead. fornicate the wbu, hatton is the linear champ and thats all that counts. fornicate the ibf as well
