Some years ago I was in contact with a Cuban national coach (before Castro cut off internet access). The team was very interested in how their defected team members were doing - I even had a third party sneak in a tape of Hurtado, and others, to Cuba. Even Felix Savon was most interested how the former Cuban citizens were doing as pros.
I personally think, getting into politics a bit, feel that we should no longer impose sanctions on Cuba. Our actions have not ousted Castro and never will. Time to mellow out and resume relations with the country. Just my opinion, of course.
To Gary V: I am not taken by American propaganda but in my case having lived the reality of the system.... but in my case I am one who has lived Castro's wrath. I have had uncles and cousins slammed in jail in Cuba... one of my uncles got 30 days in jail and five years probation for talking to a tourist and bad mouthing Castro.... and I am the author of six books yet although I am one of Cuba's best known writers, my books are prohibited in my own country and a Cuban can go to jail for possesion of one of my books... perhaps you have been taken by Castro's stalinist propaganda...
Lifting the embargo would only give Castro a moral victory and would not improve conditions in Cuba.... Canada, Spain etc. have had relations with Cuba forever and they have not influenced the system towards democracy...

Wrong, amigo. Castro - not the Cubans- consider them scum. On the other hand, most of us Cubans consider Castro as scum. Don't believe totalitarian propaganda. And they are freedom seekers.
Casamayor, Hurtado and all others are heroes to the Cubans both in and out of the island.
