Just a thought.......why not look at asking your trainers to look after your nutrition and diet instead of doing it yourself

Great analysis of what Kel may be doin wrong and what he may need to do to put it rightKing Geedorah wrote:I imagine it was some genius who decided that it was best if BoxRec didn't allow multiple accounts and entire threads where one guy converses with himself and comes to conclusion that he was in the right. As for the training thing. It is clearly not a stylistic question -- IE. how he fights, not the band -- it is more about his late round pep and conditioning. Dominic knows what he is doing, clearly, and it may just be down to Kell, who, like any decent boxer, is still a work in progress getting someone like Kerry in to ensure that he comes down without crashing it in fight week.
As for the 'Ingle style' debate. Guys like Witter and, more successfully, Naz had decent one shot power, Kell doesn't, not at this level anyway, so they could fight in a style that allowed them to throw 10-20 big shots per round as they would usually catch their guy with one of them and discourage him.
Kell doesn't have this ability, so he can't draw a guy in and clout him with singles, but he can box behind his left, put hooks in and land uppercuts through the middle. Basically, Kell needs to be throwing more shots per round each and every round right through the fight. It is just a case of Brook sitting down with his team and working on how to ensure he makes weight properly, and therefore doesn't undo years of work by stepping up a division, while retaining steam throughout the latter stages as at this level he isn't going to chin anyone -- he needs to be able to bust them up, wear them down and take them out on their feet with 10-20 punch bursts, but only when he's sure the time has come.
Ironically, Kell looked at Ricky Hatton when preparing for Matt, he should look to Ricky again as Hatton's conditioning was superb despite his lifestyle between fights and this brought Ricky through in fights when he had health issues, Urango etc., as well as allowing him to put it on guys late and ultimately stop Tszyu up at the top, top level that Kell aspires to.

I agree with a lot of what has been said and as ever Ian and Terry raise good points.
Referring back to the title of the thread and the thread starter - of course someone should be banned if they start a thread with a fake account and fill it with lies and nonsense purporing to be fact. End of.
As for Kell, it's long been the case that he the only person who will end up beating Kell is himself. Kell's dad has said that from day one and it is exactly true.
If Kell doesn't prepare properly for a fight and decides to eat and drink stuff he's been told not to (time and time and time again) then that is his own fault and no-one else's.
I've read his comments - in a formal press release by Matchroom - regarding 'bringing in a specialist conditioner' etc etc and to be honest i was really disappointed with that. He's already got access to that in Dominic Ingle and the training set-up he has at Wincobank is what has nurtured him and brought him through to be the supremely skilled, world class fighter he is today.
Kell could spend thousands of pounds on using the greatest 'specialists' the world has ever seen but that money would be wasted if he still chose to cut corners.
I understand the need for Kell and the team to look at all possible causes for his stamina issue on Saturday. Let's hope they come up with something constructive and positive.

Exactly Dan.
Even the World's best nutritionist, or the World's best Trainer, cannot be with you 24/7.
The only person ultimately that gets cheated is the fighter himself.
It would be a travesty if Kell's talent was to be flawed by not having the mental fortitude to get things right out of the ring.
He's not the first, and most certainly won't be the last.
The Jones fight was the wake up call, and he came through it. Many don't, and end up with a shock defeat. Boxing is a game of snakes and ladders and he's managed to stay on the bottom rung of a ladder.
I've said it before, I expect this to be the making of Kell.
Please don't end up in the future thinking - if only ..........

Dominic Ingle was the specialist conditioner, nutritionist and trainer for world champions Junior Witter and Johnny Nelson. How about trying him?danfoster wrote:I agree with a lot of what has been said and as ever Ian and Terry raise good points.

Having your nose pasted across your face is (1) going to mean you get less oxygen and so tire quicker and (2) mean you open your mouth and be more susceptible to getting hurt with head shots…
So maybe Kell’s stamina issue was made far worse by his injury?
Maybe Kell should invest more in body punches earlier on in a fight? What Ron Atkinson might call “a few reducers…” Means any stamina shortcomings are less pronounced.
One thing that did bother me was that when he was hurt he lost composure and his body language was obvious. Jones could smeel his fear… Coming out for the 9th Brook looked worried.
Hard though when you’ve smashed a guy up for 6 rounds and then he turns the tables. Kell must have been thinking I won this fight 3 rounds ago. Why doesn’t he go away.
Just want to see more composure when he’s hurt. Learn how to take a round off and still nick it…or make it close…
Anyone here at the fight?

You've summed things up really well. I liked the 11th so much because I think he did what you suggest...
Re: Kell brook changing Trainers and camp whispers from gym..??
Nice piece, thanks…
I think we can say Kell has ba11s now…
But he was always going to look great early on (and he really did) because Jones was never going to try and out-finesse him. And he was always going to be under pressure late on because Jones holds a shot so well and that was Jones’ game…to pour it on late…
I do think the breathing issues from the blood will have effected Brook. But to what extent I don’t know.
Great, great bill…wonderful fight… Must have been great to be there.
What was the general feeling at the fight?

I was at the fight, the first 6/7 rounds were a great 'boxing' spectacle.....the last 5/6 rounds were a great 'fight' spectacle. bottom line is....kell needs to box and not fight. for 12 rounds if required.
to quote what dominic has said in the sheffield star interview.
'the boxer himself had wanted to manage his own nutrition'
perhaps its time to accept thats mums kitchen knowledge is enough to project you to fringe world level (no shame in that) but it will need a strength and conditioning expert to go the final furlong.
I suppose dominic could do it or a new face could help. I certainly see no need to worry about the ingle skills or the training intensity in itself. They are top notch.

It did look that way. It seemed like, in the early rounds, Kell was worried about sustaining an attack. At times I though Jones was taking too much punishment.
