Larry, why are you suddenly changing your story?

You obviously know he took PEDS from same supplier as you so you have nothing to fear.

He's done wrong and he's been punished, the people who start getting abusive and reeling out the expletives just need to get a life. 4 years is very long and totally disproportionate to anything I've seen before, I think if this was a big name boxer with better financial backing then the ban would have been 6-12 months, maybe 2 years at a big push.

If Haye and Chisora can fight at Upton Park without licenses, I think Larry should be able to too, he has always been in exciting fights and the undercard is thin even by FW's standards

I thought it was a joke because his comments clearly upset people on here.

You're probably right, it certainly wouldn't surprise me anyway.

The fact that Larry got such a huge ban was purely down to the fact that he had admitted to cheating throughout his whole career. We all know that some big name fighters have been caught, but they have been caught for single offences. Larry has been done for a systemic attempt to break the rules. He has got what he deserves.

Now there is also no need for everyone to use terrible abuse against him. Larry has been respectful to the posters and has shown a lot of guts coming back on the forum (I for one though he would do a Jimmy Hoffa) and his opinions need to be treated with respect. We can all think the guy should be banished to the Land of Nod, but there is no excuse for bad manners to a man who has always been respectful..

On the flipside there does seem a lack of contrition, which can probably be expected from a man who has spent his whole career cheating. In his mind he thinks this is acceptable, and is only annoyed he has been caught, whilst others get away with it. So any idea that Larry is an avenging angel is ridiculous. Even if he gives up names, he isn't doing it for the good of the sport, he will be doing it out of bitterness.

I just find the whole thing very sad. he was 'our Larry' That will forever be broken. And a man, through his own stupidity has chucked his career down the loo. There are no winners, only losers.

Lets be honest here guys , we all have an opinion about what we think of what Larry has done , but to think hes not bothered is horse crap , even if its just financially he will notice the difference , im sure he will also notice hes lost the respect of a few , im one that had HUGE respect for him and felt very dissapointed when i heard the news but theres really no need to get personally with him , theres also no need for his "come and say it to my face " comments , but i can understand him saying that when people are getting abusive .

Larry , i promote unlicensed shows at current and ive had abuse from some on here who dont like what i do , but i dont threaten to do them in if they want to come to say it to my face , take heed and try to bite your tongue no matter how hard it may seem , its their opinion i just do things in what i feel is a fair manner .

so to cut the story short , we know hes done wrong , he knows hes done wrong , and regardless of what our opinions are , dont get personal and say things you wouldnt to peoples face , dont even act the big man and say you would actually say that unless youve got your real name on here , hes said his peice and people on here will continue to say their peice but if its personal then maybe larry would be best advised to not respond to those comments , feel free to comment on the relevant subject , that is all , im not defending him whatsoever , but whats done is done .

Not daft at all, it's his promoter/manager Steve Goodwin.

Someone(pretty obvious who) obviously PM'd Larry with some legal 'Cease and desist' order as they didn't want the TRUTH getting out but we already know the TRUTH now and have Larry to thank for that.

The fact that Larry came on here and interacted with fans gained him a lot of respect and a lot of fans. Taking PES's imo lost him a great deal if not all of that respect. Sure, there a lot of internet warriors who no doubt enjoy getting a rise out of a boxer and are doing all they can to wind him up but I can understand completely why fans feel let down by Larry.

Fans pay money to see who is the best boxer, if fighters take PES's then the sport is a sham as we don't really know what we are watching. I feel the same way about Mosley, Jones Jr and anyone else ever caught taking drugs - their entire career and achievements are put into question now. To cheat the sport by taking drugs is disrespecting boxing, the fans and any other boxer, trainer or anyone else involved in the sport.

Being honest and coming clean is a good thing and anything Larry can do to help catch other cheaters (like Dwain Chambers did) will be appreciated by boxing fans and the authorities. However, coming clean only after you have been caught doing wrong doesn't garner a massive amount of sympathy from fans. Being honest and helping the authorities is really the least Larry can do after cheating everyone for however long and he should not expect preferential treatment or lenience for it.

If Larry, shows genuine remorse for his actions, helps the authorities as much as he can, detailing how he avoided positive tests, how he obtained the drugs, who else knew he was taking them and who else he knows is taking PES's then maybe more stringent procedures can be put in place in the future and Larry will begin to win back some of the respect he has lost. Unfortunately there is no easy or quick way to do this and his name will forever be tarnished in some people's eyes but I hope that if Larry does love the sport then he will do the above.

Larry seems to be getting a harsher punishment for admitting what he done. I don't see another boxer making the same 'mistake', they'll just keep recycling the same old "I've done it unintentionally" excuses.

The main issue is that the drug testing procedures in boxing are dire

So you basically want Larry to become a Supergrass?

I don`t agree at all with using PED`s in boxing, but you can`t ask anyone to become a grass.

Grassing`s on a par with noncing where I`m from.

Rubbish, people in Bergen need to get more perspective
(not that I'm saying Larry should start selling out others just because he has been caught, although that is kinda what he was doing at the beginning of the thread)

Maybe some people hate Larry so much because they loved him so much. Bit like Liverpool fans and Fernando Torres. We all brought into this guy who seemed to have turned his life around, had pretty basic skills but brought some serious power that seems to be missing from so many domestic fighters. He was a regular poster with good articulate opinions who always came across well on TV. "Look, there's our Warmachine" we would say when he featured on a Friday night undercard, one of us, doing his stuff.

Then again I think some people, quite a lot of people it seems, just like to shout abuse at people from the safety of their living rooms.

Finally, for me, Larry's ban length should be the norm, not the exception

Don't be silly mate, we are not talking about someone struggling on the dole, who is earning a bit of cash on the side to feed his family being grassed on, we are talking about fighters risking their lives in the ring here, a fighter going into the ring with a weapon, PED in order to damage his opponent.
