Given it is a 10 round fight now I guess this poll isn't so worthwhile! Cheers allegedly

I've had a bad feeling about this bout from the moment it was announced. Chisora feels all wrong for Haye.

For all of Haye's talent, and despite this being a truncated bout, I think he'll struggle. He'll struggle to keep Chisora honest and be forced into engaging at a pace he won't find comfortable. That's the gut feeling at least.

I think the pace coupled with Chisora's granite bonce will more than bother Haye down the stretch. He also looked to have fear in his blood at the weigh-in, nervous energy's great for a few rounds, but if he's bouncing haymakers off of Chisora and he's still coming then the probability of sloppiness and a lazy defence creeping into Haye's output is quite high. High enough that I fancy Chisora to upset a knackered Haye late.

Because they were cruiserweights, Haye's never knocked out a decent heavyweight early.

I would say that the times he has taken on heavyweights the same hight as him; Bonin, Barrett and Ruiz, he has stopped them, even though they're all pretty durable guys. That gives the impression he''s pretty explosive when punching straight and not made to work to get his shots off, I think Chisora isn't as skillful defencivly and the combined result of the punches over 6-8 rounds should do for him
Chisora has shown far better durabilty than the notoriously chinny Barrett, and Ruiz, who was dropped several times throughout his career, was well past his prime. Haye also failed to stop them early and without problems; Barrett knocked him down and Ruiz lasted nearly 10 rounds. Bonin was a sub-EBU level fighter who never proved his durability against a notable puncher, so I'm not going to discuss him.

It's worth noting that Haye easily stopped Alexander Gurov and Audley Harrison, who are roughly the same height as Klitschko, yet struggled with short opponents in Fragomeni and Mormeck; I believe Haye's struggles are more attributable to the abilities of his opponents than their heights. Chisora is durable and arguably top ten in his division, so a quick and easy stoppage over him would be a new accomplishment for Haye.

BTW---I don't consider a stoppage between the 6th and 8th to be that early. My criticism is directed more towards the predictions of a blowout in under 5 rounds; it could happen, but it's highly improbable.
5 Rounds do you? :yay: :yay: :yay:

It wasn't a beatdown and didn't end in under five rounds, although I conceded in that post that such an outcome was possible.

Little suggested that Haye would win quickly and facilely, and he didn't. He did exceed my expectations though.

It was not under five was a little pedantic considering, you said

It's not pedantic at all; the fight was stopped in the fifth round.

I also never claimed that an early stoppage was impossible; I claimed that a blowout in fewer than 5 rounds was unlikely. Haye finished the bout impressively, but the fight was not a blowout (i.e. a sustained beatdown).

So fewer then five was a blowout, and between 6-8 was not that early. What was round five?

Clearly, stopping a fighter who is 'arguably top 10 in his division' and who has gone the distance with 2 other top 10 fighters, in the 5th round is just an average performance from an overrated heavyweight who is really just a blown up cruiser.

When did I classify a blowout as a bout that lasts fewer than 5 rounds?

For me a blowout occurs when a fighter is uncompetitive and continually punished during a bout, or when they are knocked out very early (e.g. rounds 1-3) without having dominated until that point.

I disagree; this was one of Haye's best performances.

As I wrote before the fight "Chisora is durable and arguably top ten in his division, so a quick and easy stoppage over him would be a new accomplishment for Haye."

A fight can end in under five rounds without being a blowout.

This fight lasted 5 rounds and wasn't a blowout.

It wasn't a blowout as I define the term and only this definition matters since you're evaluating my post in light of the outcome.

The amount of rounds the fight lasted is thus irrelevant, but for clarification the period from rounds 1-4 is what I meant by 'under 5 rounds.'

6 and above wasn't early and under five was a blowout what was a round five finish?

For the second time, when did I classify a blowout as any bout that lasts fewer than 5 rounds?

The bout could've ended in any round without me considering it a blowout.

And where does it say that a blowout is any bout that lasts fewer than 5 rounds?

A 4th round KO, for example, wouldn't necessarily be a blowout. Read the criteria I posted above.

Wow, a lot of Crow to be eaten in this thread. Still surprised by so many boxing fans being on the Chisora hype train.

Excellent fight, I reckon Haye would've been in trouble coming down the home straight, bu the combo to finish the fight was spectacular
