The Haye Chisora fight was under unified boxing rules with a referee to protect the health of both boxers and with three ringside judges, furthermore it was between two people who were coming off world title challenges and had gone 12 rounds with the respective champions, clearly everything but for their actions outside the ring makes this a legitimate fight, I've always seen Boxrec as an authoritive record, the idea that they choose to sanction some of Archie Moore's fights but not this one makes me question that.

Didn't Chris Bacon and Dominic Negus fight each other on an EBF show a couple of years back? They had 12 round experience, they three judges and they had a referee. The even had licensed from the sanctioning body. Do you think that fight should be added as well.

If you answer no then you're a hypocrite.

And if you answer yes then you're advocating basically all unlicensed boxing being added to the Boxrec database.

IMO theres nothing in principle wrong with that... if its clearly marked under what jurisdiction the fight occurs... same as with Haye-Chisora.

The database would in a sense be more complete if it showed for example that fighters have had experience other than that under the BBBofC, Tom Glover, Micky Steeds for example...

I'd even argue that it would benefit from explicitly including notable amateur details too, such as ABA wins or medals, or notable fights.

Thats not to say that it should include noting down people who box unlicensed but never turned pro, but this is clearly a fight thats happened, as far as I can see the only problem the BBBofC have with it is that Warren didn't crawl enough to them before seeking his alternative arrangements. There's no statement that they disapprove of Danny Williams getting papers elsewhere, they told Chisora explicitly he was free to get other papers, the only problem was the venue, but where on earth else did they think they would put that fight? Where else but London?

I've said on here before that the two of them were a disgrace at the events in Germany, and shouldn't have been financially rewarded, but the truth of the matter is that the fight has happened, they gave it their best go, made up afterwards, and now we have to acknowledge that, partly by putting a W next to Haye's name. Or a little green square, at any rate.

Good God, this is a pathetic stance by Boxrec. And damning for them. The fight was sanctioned, what does it matter if the British cartel weren't the people who made the money from it? This smells very funny to me.

Boxrec list Danny Williams Latvian licensed fights - fought in Germany, Spain, Sweden.

No difference with Haye/Chisora licensed by Luxembourg fought in England surely?

Get off your high horse.

I'm certainly no big fan of F.W but i agree with an earlier poster, peoples eyes have been blinkered here by "the new british boxing clique, Adam Smith, Eddie Hearn etc"

Its total bullshit and I'm bitterly disappointed with Boxrec. The BBBFC are completely self appointed, so what does it matter whether they recognise it or not? They would have loved a slice of last night's extremely tasty pie, that's for sure. Sad that Boxrec is involved in the corruption.

I'm very dissapointed that Boxrec don't have last nights fights listed. It makes you wonder how acurate records are on this site if they just pick and chose what to record. Are Boxrec really taking the high ground here or is their decision not to record last nights action as a result of petty grievances they may have against Mr. Warren?

Boxrec have just put the following report up on the main page:

http://news.boxrec.com/news/2012/haye-p ... itali-next

"The reported 30,000 fans who braved the elements to watch the controversial fight sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation witnessed an entertaining shoot-out, while it lasted."

So this site does recognise that last nights action was sanctioned. All of the Biggers' Better results are listed here and all 13 of them have been unsanctioned. In fact if you look at the records of the guys fighting in Biggers' Better they are either making their debut, or their record is a long line of unsanctioned or unverified fights.

Please sort this out Boxrec.

What f*cking corruption? Jesus.

Which bodies governing professional sport in this country AREN'T self-appointed?

You're just swallowing a load of propaganda.

However, I do feel that your disappointment is sincere. I would understand if you gave the site a wide berth from now on.

This is all quite ridiculous now. The BBBofC do not own the rights to sanction professional boxing in this country. It doesnt matter what argument anyone comes up with, the FACT of the matter is this was a perfectly legal, lincenced boxing match. Boxrec are in the business of recording licenced boxing matches, this was a licenced boxing match. Why does everyone want to get involved in the BS politics?

This was written by The Law on a different thread.
The reason is because Boxrec only list shows on the Boxrec 'schedule' which are sanctioned by the national governing body (i.e. the country where the fight is taking place).

We do list the 'results' of other shows (including unsanctioned shows), but they do not appear on our schedule. Therefore the result of Haye v Chisora should appear on Boxrec but it will not appear on our schedule.

We have always had this rule in place.
The results should be up.

You wouldn't believe the politics BoxRec has to get involved in, especially in Africa and some European countries. Some governing bodies are straight up bent (don't start on ours, it's incomparable, trust me) and supply results for gym fights, invented fights, etc. and if they're added to the database it could have really serious consequences. Last night's wasn't like this, of course...I'm just saying that 'the business of recording licenced boxing matches' is far, far more difficult than you would believe.

Maybe it's just about how to record the results rather than whether...I literally don't know.

Probably best to let the dust settle, then make an informed and educated decision about whether to list the fights at a later date? Its all too easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment with this sport.

Think that's hit the nail on the head mate. Needs to be recorded somehow IMO, particularly in light of The Law's quote presented by KMH. Obviously we all get caught up in the stupid politics of this game, but it's not good to let it affect our output overly, especially when it comes to statistics. Suck it up and record it, I say, for the continued great reputation of the site as a record-keeping resource.

Boxrec need to sort there selves out. It cant be take serious as a source for boxers records if there going to pick and choose like this.
Ridiculous.
See, here's the thing. It's now Sunday 15th July. The EBU tells me that the LBF are now expelled. But they weren't when the fight was on. So, that's an issue which is very interesting.

But please don't throw in the WBA and WBO if you want to add or create any kind of legitimacy. One of the belts was, quite literally, made up a few weeks ago. To say they have licensed or sanctioned a bout has as much legitimacy as saying that the dog down the road licenses or sanctions me to step in its excrement.

If BoxRec's view is that it does not recognise fights that happen in Britain that aren't licensed by the BBBoC, so be it, and the sport in terms of governance in Britain will almost certainly be better off for it.

I do understand why people will think it detracts from the site though. Boxing records have always been a point of contention and, perhaps, people have forgotten this.

Poll users of the site to see whether they agree to the results being listed or not. There does appear to be a desire for the results to be listed. Ultimitely everyone who visits this site is a customer of Boxrec. Let the customers decide. You can't go far wrong when you listen to what the people want.

I'm sure they will add the results to the fighter's records. If not they will be the only website in the world that doesn't factor in the Haye-Chisora fight, when they update their rankings.

Also, imagine, Haye beats Vitali on an LBF licence.

Or if all allegedly fighters fight on LBF licences. They could potentially win all their fights and still not be listed or ranked by BoxRec.

If all Warren boxers fought on lbf licences that would be the end of the British boxing as we know and love. He must be stopped.

WBO British title anyone?

I'd actually support that. Boxers from NI can box on BUI licenses anyway so if the BUI wanted to stage shows I couldn't see the problem. The board wouldn't be happy about lost revenue but I think most reasonable people would be quite happy see it.
