To my knowledge that was a fight where they had blood testing in place, I remember Khan saying it before the fight. I dont know if Khan has had that in his other fights except the Peterson one.

My take is this:

I was genuinely shocked at how open Khan was defensively. If you have a suspect chin, it is absolutely essential that you have a tight defence, especially at world title level and indeed defence should be the main thing you work on as it is no good boxing a perfect fight for 10 rounds and then getting caught with a big shot and losing in the 11th or 12th. Look at how Wlad focused primarily on his defence after his stoppage losses. He was never a defensive fighter before those losses but he was forced to change his whole approach to a safety first one as he knew that it was the only way he could succeed at elite level. It's almost ok to have a dodgy defence if you have a chin like Carl Froch as you can just walk through your opponents shots but when you have a vulnerable chin like Khan then you just can't keep getting caught with big shots. I'm really surprised Roach hasn't done more to sort this out and this simply has to be a priority for the coming months of training.

In terms of where Khan goes next, I'd say the only really big fight out there at the moment would be the Kell Brook fight in Britain. Now may be a good time to make it as if Khan loses to another lesser fighter even the Brook fight may not be an option. I'd make that fight a 50-50 as well. Maybe he could have a confidence booster before the Brook fight but any talk of fights against Mayweather and Pacman are now surely dead in the water.

All that work would barely be manageable for a 100% healthy guy and I hate to bring it up but surely his troubles with Parkinson's means this is far too much of a workload to give each fighter enough time. The baffling Khan sparring sessions on the Countdown show going hell for leather where Roach wasn't in attendance speaks for itself.
Khans loss is also big blow for Sky who are left with Matchroom's Froch, Brook and Barker as their marquee names :KO:
Maybe Khan needs a change, a totally different trainer like Pernel whitticker or Buddy mcgurt, who are pocket and inside fighters, maybe he could pick up some of their skills, he has to improve his defense to protect his weaknesses, just a thought, it must be difficult for Freddie Roach with his sickness having to work with fast young men like Khan and let's be honest he is not getting better, in the corner he was very slow in his actions, when Khan was badly hurt, before against Maidana, Ariza put hot towels over his face and woke him up, last night, nothing was done, don't get me wrong, but he needs someone else to take charge at times in times of crisis, a helping hand.

Amir gets caught up in the whole PacMan thing I think, and started believing he was another superman like Manny, and can't get knocked out. Get caught, just stick your arms in the air, Pacman style.

Next fight should be Garcia II in the UK. A lot of people will think he should have won that, if he'd been a bit more switched on, he might have busted up Garcia and stopped him on cuts. Makes for a great rematch though, and I think bookies might even have it close.

It's funny people saying change trainers, didn't he go to Roach because Roach is one of the best in the world? Where does he go from there, I don't think Roach is to blame, I think Khan is to blame - where has personal responsibility gone nowadays? People always looking to blame trainers.

No trainer can save Amir Khan. In his last three fights Danny Garcia could not stop a centurion featherweight Morales, an ancient, shot Nate Campbell, or a fragile Kendall Holt. He is no puncher yet Amir Khan made him look like Julian Jackson. What does that tell you?

Garcia is most certainly a puncher, you can see the speed he throws the left hook at, with maximum weight & leverage behind it. Those are very tough fighters that went the disatance with Mike.
Hard punchers like Judah and Medina couldn't do that to Khan, or even a juiced up on fire Peterson. Garcia is a big puncher, and caught Khan with a punch that would put anyone in trouble.

To be fair I think he is a puncher but no more so than Maidana who Khan survived against, so it is rather strange how he managed to absorb the shots Maidana took but then Garcia manages to knock him out in 4 rounds.

Not looking to blame the trainer. My point is, as good as Roach is, it's clear Khan hasn't made the adjustments and is still making the same mistakes he did before!

Personally, I don't think any trainer can help him change his ways.

It's a fight FFS  ; no one's to blame. Khan got caught hard and fought his best to rcover and win. That is his nature and the nature of the sport. Khan to blame; for what? He got beat by a very heavy hitter AND he didn't bottle it, try to run or make excuses after. Amir Khan went up in my estimation. In a bout, people win and people lose. Khan got stopped but played his part, he weren't outclassed, he didn't cheat. He got hit hard; I watch boxing (and pay to watch) to see good boxing, hard punches and strong competition; I gt that in that bout and good luck to the pair of them.

Had it easy? He is 25. Look at what he has managed to do already and who he has fought. I remember when he and Mitchell had an apparent rivalry. Khan has had it ten times tougher than Mitchell has yet I bet you wouldn't call him spoilt or protected...

Brook is an option, although for me, not a good one from Khan's point of view. He needs to take stock, change trainers, attempt to make the necessary adjustments ( don't think he can ) and build back up slowly.
He's had a cherry picked run to the top and was beaten in his last two fights by opponents that were picked for their apparent lack of a challenge to Khan. The only non cherry picked fight was Maidana and Maidana had to chase him for years and threaten court action to get it.

Okay, the Head is the centre of everything in Biomechanics, the Body is there to transport it. Where the angle of the Head is, gives out the signals of movement and the restrictions, of position. His Head has always been over His front Foot after punching, feet to wide. Reflex action to this is to move the Head, to correct posture, wrong :oo , body moves the Head, not the other way round. If the Head is over 15% off line you are off balance, with too much stress on the 3 top Vertabrea , Clarity is lost.

Strange response, but each to their own. Khan is to blame in my opinion for being too over-confident and gung-ho in his coming forward and neglecting to look after that piss-weak chin of his.

what the.. It worked for Mayweather, Roy Jones, Sugar Ray Leonard, usually to draw your opponents punches, it's nothing to do with that, Amir is not that wide in his stance, quite upright really, but interesting perspective.

He's gone into win in an exciting fashion Amir has always been a fast starter and aggressive. If he'd ran and jabbed his way through he may have won but called a chicken. He went in to win and win big; it backfired; he got caught hard. To become a big star in boxing needs exciting wins. Khan went for it; he wanted to entertain and be a big star; that's what big name boxers do. How Khan tried to pull the bout back after being dropped bad and hurt showed how game he is. Khan lost and we don't know how good Garcia will turn out to be, though he lost Amir showed us a lot.

Funnily enough, the guy on boxingtalk who does excellent analysis, Stephen Edwards (aka Breadman) has been saying the same thing for the last couple of years. He's said Khan is a knockout waiting to happen because his head is always over the front foot after punching. Having never been in the ring myself I never understood the significance of this, but it is something he has pointed out as a fundamental flaw in Khan's technique moreso than a dodgy chin for a good while.

Khan looked sensational for 2 and a half rounds of the fight but just got caught with a counter left hook that hit him hard on the neck and discombobulated him.

That happens in boxing and it's what makes Khan the most exciting fighter in all boxing to watch, he is a true fighting man who will win some and lose some. He was never going to be an 'unbeatable' fighter.

As Michael Gomez once said 'Khan is a world class fighter with world class frailities' and that's what makes him the must watch fighter he is.

I think his management need to look at changing trainers, that's not a knock on Freddie Roach who has done a great job with him but i just feel they've both reached the end of the line together in terms of what Khan can learn of him. I've had a quick think and i think the perfect trainer for him would be ADAM BOOTH, someone who can get boxers to fight to a perfect gameplan and stategy.

Also i'd like Khan to learn to switch speed not just always fighting super fast as a good fighter can learn to time counters off it but if he switched up different speeds it would confuse a fighter more then just constant fast fast fast.

Did anyone else notice how slight Khan was looking? He looked off colour and seemed to have less muscle on his frame. He didn't look hungry or up for the fight either.

I also thought that as soon as he stepped up in weight, he'd get KO'd. Seems it's happened before even then. Moving up to Welterweight is pretty pointless now he's been found out. He has proven though that he can box and should still be beating people like Garcia IMO. Should be interesting to see where he goes from here.

You have totally got my post wrong, nothing to do with Roach, Khan has defensive problems, due to his style, Whitticker and Mcgurt have the boxing style to improve him, simple as that, Hatton did that with Mayweather, but could not adapt, maybe too long in the tooth to change, Amir has prooved in the past he can change things, that's about it really.
how has khan proved he can change things exactly? hes fought exactly the same way since dot ,with the exception of his fight with kotelnik, where he fought the perfect fight.( against the weakest champion in boxing- according to khan).
all you can do for khan is put him in with weak fighters, cos hes never gonna come out well against the best.Fact.
