Why does Haye not want revenge?
So after last nights fight Haye was calling out Vitali, why was he not chasing Wlad as well?
All great boxers have tried to pursue a rematch with guys that have beaten them, even if it resulted in a worse beating 2nd time round. When Haye lost to Carl Thompson, i can't remember him trying to hard to get a rematch there. I'm not saying Haye is scared of either of the guys that beat him, but there is no attempt to try and get a win over guys that have bested him.

Re: Why does Haye not want revenge?
It's a good question to be fair.
I think he is too embarrassed to call out Wladimir right now.
I think he is hoping that he can catch Vitali on the slide, beat him, then entice Wladimir into rematch that way.
David blotted his copybook with his negative performance & his toe excuse afterwards & going after Wladimir now would make him look like a chump.

Re: Why does Haye not want revenge?
Because there's no realistic chance of Haye beating Wlad should they ever fight again... the 1st fight was utterly conclusive.
Vitali on the other hand, at this stage, would appear to be the easier opponent of the two.

People say Vitali is on way down and Wlad is still improving. Also Vitali is more likely to get in a slug fest which gives Haye a greater chance of winning.

Floyd Patterson was knocked down 7 times by Johansan , but wanted a rematch. Joe Frazier was knocked out in 2 by Foreman but wanted a rematch. All the great boxers want to get it on with the guys that beat them.liamlion wrote:Because there's no realistic chance of Haye beating Wlad should they ever fight again... the 1st fight was utterly conclusive.

Add in Thomas Hearns who was outfought by SRL & pulverised by Hagler, but still wanted to get straight back in with those guys.
Re: Why does Haye not want revenge?
I think we all generally know the substance of David Haye... he has many attributes but he's certainly no Patterson or Frazier, nor do i think that when he's long laid-up his boxing gloves that anyone will consider him one of the greats of the game.Old bones Ian wrote:Floyd Patterson was knocked down 7 times by Johansan , but wanted a rematch. The bloke just can't win.

I think he wants Wlad 100% but knows Wlad will just say yeah, yeah etc, whatever, already been there and little bro would be spot on.
He is targeting Vitali as part of a bigger plan to get a mega fight with Wlad. Beat Vitali and Wlad will be knocking on Haye's door.

Vitali would be a better choice for Haye than Wladimir. Wlad has a higher punch rate than Vitali, and Vitali is older and slower than Wladimir. However, no one has ever remotely hurt Vitali and he punches harder than Wladimir could dream of hitting. That being said, if Haye boxed smart he could have closer numbers on the cards than he did against Wladimir. Would he beat Vitali? I dont believe so. BUT I still think Haye could beat every other heavyweight in the world.

Re: Why does Haye not want revenge?
Wlad - Haye sucked, and Haye probably realizes it would be difficult to sell a rematch of a fight when he (and his opponent as well) were both fighting in safety-first mode and barely throwing anything. And in fact he didn't do much to get another chance... was inactive for 1 year and now fought Chisora
I am not saying a fight with Vitali would be better, but it is probably more attractive to audience and can generate more $$$.
And IMO his chances against both brothers are roughly similar - punchers chance against Wlad or hoping father time helps him against Vitali.

I think he wants Vitali because he honestly thinks he can beat him, if he wins that, then he will fight Wlad again.Old bones Ian wrote:So after last nights fight Haye was calling out Vitali, why was he not chasing Wlad as well?

Re: Why does Haye not want revenge?
Father time has been standing next to Vitali for a while now. Problem is, his opposition have not been able to take advantage fully ( I say fully because he looked shite against Johnson, Sosnowski and Chisora who all would have been decapitated by a prime Vit )
I think Haye beats him, and get this...by way of stoppage. Yep, crazy I know. Not even had a drink today either.

Re: Why does Haye not want revenge?
Haye can’t win against Wladimir because Wlad gets away with bloody murder with leaning and hugging his opponents to death, he is so cautious he is like Velcro when anybody gets close to him.

Re: Why does Haye not want revenge?
To me it is quite simple. If David Haye goes after Vitali K and If he defeats Vitali, the elder, bigger brother who is supposedly meant to be decline due to his advancing years and suposedly distracted by his political ambitions in his native Ukraine, then he will have a much stronger bargaining chip in negotations in wanting to fight Wladimir, who will have no choice but to fight Haye in order to restore the Klitchsko dominance at the top of the Heavyweight division.Old bones Ian wrote:So after last nights fight Haye was calling out Vitali, why was he not chasing Wlad as well?

Re: Why does Haye not want revenge?
Haye has already stated many times he'd only come out of retirement for a Klit.
Chisora was simply a means to an end. Wlad has stated he won't give Haye a rematch, so he goes after Vitali, knocks him out, then Wlad will have no choice but to rematch. Haye puts Wlad to sleep, them boom, he hold all four titles and has a mega showdown with Fury or Price (or both) at Wembley Stadium before retiring as a legend.

Re: Why does Haye not want revenge?
But he also never tried that hard to get carl back in the ring as well, Thompson had 1 more fight and frankly looked poor, but a rematch would of still sold .
Re: Why does Haye not want revenge?
Haye was soundly outpointed by Wlad, but he did not take all that much punishment during the 12 rounds. I'd find it hard to believe the reason he is not pushing for a rematch is because he fears Wladimir, i'd say its far more likely that he knows if he calls publicly for the rematch he will get shot down by the fans and the press. Wlad has stated he has no interest in it, yet Vitali was mouthing of soon after Wlad's points win that he fancied knocking Haye out, so in many ways it makes sense to be calling Vitali out, there is a real possibility of that fight happening, where as a Wlad rematch is almost certain never to happen, unless Haye beats Vitali first.

Rematching Liston remains a boxing highlight of courage. Floyd was a serious man.Old bones Ian wrote:Floyd Patterson was knocked down 7 times by Johansan , but wanted a rematch.
Re: Why does Haye not want revenge?
There is a big difference: though one-sided, those fights were full of action, so you shouldn't be surprised people wanted to see a rematch.Old bones Ian wrote:Floyd Patterson was knocked down 7 times by Johansan , but wanted a rematch. No one wants to see again Haye spending his whole energy on pre-fight insults and then just pretending he is doing something in the ring (with an opponent who "outboxes" him by landing 11 punches in a round against Haye's 6). Though I may be underestimating some hardcore British fans believing in toe story or whatever Haye says.

Haye v Thompson was as exciting as anyone could want. I was on my feet all the way through it.
