A good win for Haye on Saturday night but was anybody else unimpressed with his stamina?

For such a muscular and fit looking guy, you would expect him to have decent stamina compared to some of the flabbier guys out there, but I felt his stamina looked poor. He seems to get badly out of breath.

First Haye wanted 10 rounds instead of 12 which is a clear acknowledgement of concerns he had himself. I think it would have been interesting to see how he would have coped with another five rounds of pressure from Chisora, even though ultimately it was Chisora who couldn't continue.

To be fair, and maybe i'm wrong, but i was under the impression it was always going to be 10 rounds and that came from the initial contract terms.

What? He threw fast hard punches for 5 rounds then it was over. What do you mean? I think he's as fit as they come. He hasn't had a problem going rounds for years, it's just he KO's people before they get the chance...

He's always had a dreadful engine.

He's a sprint/explosive guy, anyone who's ever seen him could tell you that.

Why do you think he fights the way he does? For show?

Some people do tend to look knackered in the corner tho. I thought he looked knackered against Mormeck and a round later he stopped him. Whilst he is no Bob Foster I don't think he is that unfit.

I think the problems with his stamina are overstated. The commentators were going on about how much he was 'gassing' during the 4th and then in the corner but he steps out and finishes Chisora with some big shots.

Haye was definitely feeling it in there. Mouth starting to open, heaving chest and looked tired when he returned to his corner. As said its inconsequential as he stopped The big Chis in devastating fashion the very next round. Something no one has been able to do before.

To be fair, he was shooting fast punches but more often than not was putting a lot into them, specifically when Chisora was coming at him. He was looking for one or two power shots, most of the time. Not to mention all the grappling and leaning on each other. This was a more physical fight than say, the Wlad fight.

It is to be expect, to a degree.

Booth said this was the first time he's been able to run in donkeys years. Injuries have prevented him in the past!

for me haye fights different styles for different opponents

guys like wlad and valuev got the back peddling haye. he wont stop those guys but he doesn't have to worry about stamina too much as he isn't throwing many punches and his output is lower

he fights more offensively against shorter fighters he know he is technically better and more powerful than and can get out of there quicker.
i haven't seen the chisora fight yet but going by reports i'm guessing david approached this more like he did the ruiz fight, a higher workrate and more offensive.
as long as his gameplan works and he is able to stop these guys, the higher output wont be an issue.
if he goes at one of these type of opponents and it goes into the 10th round onwards, then there might be an issue.
but seeing as he is only talking about fighting vitali or retiring, i don't think he has to worry about his stamina too much, even if there is an issue in the first place.
