Paddy McGuigan

Post by kjlehm »

Hi, I'm researching the life and career of my great great grandfather Patrick "Paddy" McGuigan. My research is detailed on a Wikipedia page I created for him (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_McGuigan) and I plan to write a book about him and the era in which he fought, with a special focus on boxing and other sports in New Jersey and Hudson/Essex counties during the period. Does anyone else have any information about Paddy, or perhaps know of any other resources I should utilize that I may not yet be aware of? I'm looking for any and everything, including old newspaper articles, photos, stories, mentions, illustrations, etc. Thanks in advance for any help or advice provided!

He was born in Kentucky to Irish immigrants but lived almost all of his life in Harrison, NJ.. also in Paterson and Newark for brief periods. Everything known about him is on the above Wikipedia page.

As someone who has been researching his life for a few years now, I'm still amazed he's been so lost in history, considering his amazing life and accomplishments, not to mention the great fighters he met in the ring.
