I remarked in the record of P.O. Curran that the compiler copied the Odd's mistake, that in 1990's Ency still present.
Yet BBBoCY 86 corrected and Matthews book "English champions 1872-1910" even applied to P.O. the English title....
In any case, Curran won that match, outpointing Hague
No title was at stake, thus BBBoCY observed fairly.
