David Price v Audley Harrison 13 October at Echo Arena

What are everyone's thoughts on this?

My view is that it is an ideal fight for Price. He should win it by quite spectacular stoppage and no matter what you think of Audley he does sell and this should get Price some well needed publicity and mainstream media attention.

Is the link you posted working? I get .....

"404 Sorry sports fan, we couldn't find the page you're looking for..." error message.

I hope the fight does happen so I can watch Fraudley get a pasting again. I'll never forgive him for his cowardly, embarrassing performance that reflected everything boxing isn't.

Got it mate. Just in case anyone has problems accessing it...

British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price is starting his reign with a fight that puts him about on par with the non-reign of criticized ex-titlist Tyson Fury, as the 29-year-old giant will face 40-year-old Audley Harrison on October 13 at Liverpool's Echo Arena, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The fight will also be the first on a one-year deal that will have Price showcased on allegedly, which is a boost for the network and means that promoter Frank Maloney won't have to scramble trying to find TV for Price, who has been featured on Sky Sports, which now has dedicated most of their boxing coverage to Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing.

I'm sure most will cut and paste the usual verbatim that "nice step up for Price" and "Good progression" etc.

But the reality is I dont like Audley sucking even more cash out the professional game. He is a joke of a fighter.

Sure he is a nice fella, family man etc. But he is shite. I think McDermott was the 'progression fight' myself and not Audley.

I can only summise this is for publicity, but I know Joe Public think Audley is a complete laughing stock, best remembered for his complete no-show against Haye.

Price needs to blast him out quicker than Haye or remain in his shadow for the meantime. If Price struggles with Audley it will be bad for his image. People never consider that side of things in these match-ups. Basically the bout could do more harm than good, to a very well thought of fighter in Price.

Usual outcome. Audley is scared and gets pasted inside 5 rounds.

I honestly don't think he will be scared this time. When Audley fought Haye, Haye had already given him a pasting in sparring. As far as i'm aware there's no history behind any sparring so Audley won't have anything to fear on that front.

I think this is a good fight for Price. Audley has good power, is southpaw and is awkward. Audley has just had a confidence building win and I expect him not to fight like in the HAye fight. He took so much shit for that I don't think he would fight like that again.

I think Audley may ask some questions of Price's chin and whether you love or loathe Audley he's still a big name to have on your CV.

Decent fight imo.

I agree it is a decent fight. I just can't see Audley being able to take Price's power though. His chin is not exactly rock solid and Price is one of the hardest punchers pound for pound in world boxing. I'd envisage a cautious opening couple of rounds and then Price landing something which knocks Audley unconcious.

He didn't "fight" at all vs Haye... and Price is a big buy with a big punch.

Audley has had 50 second chances, more than any other boxer out there.

I agree entirely with the view that Audley doesn't deserve another chance but the reality is that despite his poor performances in the ring he is still a big name and something of a gatekeeper between domestic and european level which is where Price is looking to move. The fight will almost certainly sell out the Echo Arena and make Price a career high payday thus far as well as get his name into the mainstream media. Price should also win dramatically and easily so making the fight is a no-brainer for me.

I've been hyper critical of Harrison for years now, but I do now have a grudging admiration for him, simply because he has managed to cheat a living out of boxing in a way that I've never seen anyone do before.

Has any other fighter in history ever promised so much, delivered so little & made so much money doing it at the same time?

As for the fight; Price all the way.

Harrison will wet himself & get stopped eventually.

I agree, but it is not just the number of fights - it is also the number of rounds.

I can't see this one going any further than McDermott or Dallas.

He is better than Fury, better than Chisora and better than Harrison and needs to face the first two in the next 12 months before making an assault on Europe.

I agree he should be more active...

Meaningless fight, everyone knows that Harrison is way out of his depth here, Yes if he lands on Price's chin it could be interesting but the fact that Audley ever lets his hands go out of fear of being hit back is a little bit of a problem.

Good step up for Price and then Chisora next year. Satchell/Edwards on the undercard will be a good scrap. Was very impressed with Satchell when he beat P. Edwards in his last fight. His leavers and jab will be very hard to stop.

Very true. Anyone with boxing knowledge expects Price to finish him fast. Would be interesting to see how Price fights against a tall rangier guy but can't see it ending any different from his last few fights.

I think Price should get Chisora in soon after this one but he will be a damaged man after the beating he took from Haye. Would like to see Price get some decent international competition ASAP. For me he should be European champ by the end of 2013 and looking at a World title when KBros have probably retired.

+1 on Satchell btw seen his last 2 really impressive and one to watch.

I agree with that bit. I think that's the point of this fight.

The downside to this fight is that Audley I don't believe will give him a challenge. I was a fan of Audley in the beginning, but he's never lived up to the promise I thought he had as a gold medallist. And to be fair, Audley just isn't very good. If this fight goes more than two rounds, it'll only because Audley has stalled and not let Price get anywhere near him.

The thing with Price is he's raw and inexperienced, but has great potential. At 30, however, he needs to get a move on. If he is a real possibility of winning a World Title he needs to fight people that are going to give him experience and help him improve. Whilst doing that too, they need to be opponents that will help him raise his profile.

His ideal next three opponents, for me, are Matt Skelton, Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury. Three former British champions that will give him a test. (Or in the case of Skelton, probably not a test but at least will turn up and try to win.) The problem is, there's no way Fury is going to fight Price. He has it too cushty on Channel Five knocking over mediocre fighters. So I don't mind Audley as a Fury replacement. Mainly because it's a profile raiser more than anything else.

On saying that, he needs to step up in quality after Audley.

A great fight for Price , he will finaly get his name out there to the public and to sports fans who all know who tyson fury is and at this time Price is at least on par with fury but only boxing fans really know who he is! Like it or not Harrison is a name and he aint that good, a win , win for Price. This is Harrisons last real shot he ll bring it but i dont think it will be enough.
Theres some big money fights to be in the uk and europe at heavy post Vitali ,fighters who all seem to be waiting for him to hang up the gloves , and Price needs to put himself out there as a contender a win over Chisora next year will do that ,execting times in uk boxing.

Fury would fight price - he did so at 17 in the amateurs at a time when Price was older than Fury is now, and when price ahd come back form the olympics yet Fury had only had a handful of fghts - Fury doesnt lack confidence. Fury has fought good opposition including Chisora who you want price to fight next year.

Im happy for their respective promoters to keep building them up until a time when they cannot be kept apart.
