Frampton, Galahad big fights coming up

I can see things really getting v exciting in the British Super Bantamweight scene shortly.

Frampton should beat Kiko handilly i think. He's just been six rounds with Dougie Curran who Galahad (who some say isn't a puncher) took apart and stopped in two rounds.

Then we've got the unfinished business of Quigg v Munroe and Galahad himself has a major fight lined up (announcement soon) against an opponent far better than anyone could expect him to be matched with this early in his career. Hennessey and FIVE are pulling out the stops on this one, trust.

Would be great to get a little tournament going between Frampton, Quigg, Munroe and Galahad. There's plenty of titles between them. Perhaps Frampton could box Galahad if they both come through their next fights and fight the winner of Quigg v Munroe?

What's your take on the Promotional side of things ?
Do you not think that (yet again) that could be the obstacle to ensuring these match ups take place ?
For instance how would Meaty Mick react if Barry got a shot against Frampton - on Sky with Eddie promoting ?

That's the million dollar question isn't it mate? For what it's worth i think that the pair (EH and MH) would be absolute fools to let their egos stop that fight happening at some stage. But Eddie is very much Sky's in-house promoter and i think he would probably have a bigger objection to this fight being on FIVE than Barry's team would have if it were on Sky.

We'll see. We're gonna learn a lot more about what Eddie is all about in near future. Let's hope he's the genuine guy he seems to be in public because he's got a unique opportunity to sort out boxing and get some order going. I certainly hope he won't allow his own personal interest to interfere with that opportunity or the way that he advises the fighters he promotes

i'll offer you a friendly bet now that out of the 5 fighters mentioned a maximum of 2 maybe 3 fights might come off, but one way or the other- promotional rivalry, tv contracts, purses for the fighters- there will be more stumbling blocks than there are reasons these fights will go ahead.

it makes life simpler for them dealing with fewer promoters, i have to wonder if there is an element of pure laziness in it.

To be fair, and i share your concerns re monopolies, i think the reason that sky have done what they've done is to attempt to get round this problem. They want direct control of all the fighters worth having so they can do the proper fights. They're not interested in the rubbish that certain promoters have been feeding them and us for years and they won't put up with it anymore. Sadly, many promoters have had countless chances and they failed to deliver.

That said, if quigg and munroe stay with hatton and barry stays with meaty mick then i agree with counter puncher above - there's a good chance these fights won't get done due to promoter's self-interest. And that would be a typical disaster for the sport.

What happens (God forbid) if Matchroom get it wrong with Sky ?
I'll have to stop with all this pessimism but just think had their been two Promotors with Sky then the pressure on each to perform would have created its own competition.
As it is, there is no competition.
