The scary truth about steroids in boxing....
http://forums.steroid.com/showthread.ph ... BEY32t5mK0
So much to gain from using them. People have this preconception in there mind that when used they leave people with a bloated, muscle bound look. It totally comes down to how you train when your on them...
I've heard a few things over the years. And I do know someone who hammers them in another sport. They provide any athlete with huge advantages you are simply better, more enduring, stronger and quicker. Doing my job dealing with young lads who don't box but like the training I do take quite a few people on the pads who are on gear and the difference is frightening.
How prevalent do you think it is/ was in the past.....?
Read the thread and there is a 'strength and conditioner' wanting to get into MMA who openly recommends the use of drugs. I think it's terrible and dangerous. How empty must these victories be?

Partnered with a little bit of ability... they can be a serious threat to a better skilled, naturally trained fighter.
1-2 week of a high dose of Clenbuterol can shed almost a stone whilst retaining mass, and infact increasing strength. That's the tip of the iceberg in the steroid marketplace as put simply, is just an asthma drug. They feed it to bovine, so eating Beef in large quants can register a positive result too. But many shows dont do testing beyond HIV etc.
Some of the really androgenic compounds can increase strength wildly.

Someone who train regularly will have lower testosterone then a normal person so why does the nevada athletic commission allow 4 times the normal range that's ridiculous.
The more I look into this the more shocking the findings are.

Clenbuterol really is the tip of the iceberg youre right. A very mild form of steroid widely used as a diet drug with celebrities. comes in a little pill form whihc yu stack, one today, two tomorrow three next day. I think they reccomend you go up to about 8 and back down, but i guess people go a lot higher.G0mez wrote:Partnered with a little bit of ability... they can be a serious threat to a better skilled, naturally trained fighter.

If youre going to get hung for the monkey you may aswel get hung for the giraffe. And as such read up on the new "super steroid" One Rip. It has 4 (i think) different types in each bottle and negates the need to decide which tren and sust to mix. The effects when training properly on this are frightening. No bloaty mass retention, just good quality lean muscle. Easily available and cheap it seems to have become the bottle of choice in a lot of gyms. Youre looking at 25% extra on the things, which is a huge advantage if youre competing.
Super steroid may be taking it a bit far, but its certainarly the one at the moment.
No idea how much these things are being used in Boxing, but you'd be shocked how widely used they are in general. So cheap and easily accessible.

Also the <£50 tests aren't as accurate as FADA ones. But I get your point; something is better than nothing on the proviso that it is still accurate.
Re: The scary truth about steroids in boxing....
Different countries don't share information so if a british fighter takes a test in a state in the USA when fighting over there and is found positive for something not illegal in that state, but illegal in britain, the information is not passed on to the British anti doping body, also if the body is just testing for PED's and cocain is found, it can be ignored with certain bodies, mainly because of costs, also it is very expensive to test people that's why drug tests mainly happen at title fights, what about prospects who end the career of other prospects whilst on PED's then get big money fights on the back of it. Because of data protection and legal action threats it difficult to catch other users, even caught people find it difficult to reveal the Identities of others. A lot of money is spent by the BBB of C and it's members on safety for boxers i.e Brain scans, medical's, blood tests, eye tests, doctors and para medics ect.. What about the safety to boxers who are risking their life and health against drug advantaged fighters ?

Most people think that a "lab" looks at a blood sample to see what is in it - but I don't think that is the case ?
They will get a blood sample and look for certain specific drugs, but by not looking for other drugs they may be missed (I hope this makes sense !).
Re: The scary truth about steroids in boxing....
You are right John, but records show that when someone takes any type of drug, it can lead to other more serious ones, plus if a fighter is buying drugs or being given them, he is around them, if he has no moral value or self control about the usage of them or the consequences if caught, why would he not consider others ?Talkischeap wrote:To be fair cocaine & recreational drugs are damaging to those using them where as Steroids are being used in boxing to damage the innocent.

I very much doubt any fighter would take trenbolone, for the simple reason it raises your blood pressure extremely high and people taking tren can hardly walk to the local shop never mind fight for twelve rounds! Tren will make you more vascualar, bigger and appear leaner. Great for bodybuilders, not good for fighters where cardio vascular performance is important.
Winstrol, will give very lean gains but will dry out a fighters joints, so again I would suggest no.
Nandrolone (commonly known as 'Deca', as it is often made using the decaonote ester) will bloat you no matter what AI (aromotase inhibitor) you take and no matter how clean your diet is it will cause some bloat. However, it does "lubricate" the joints and can benefit people with joint problems. I wouldn't rule out nandrolone.
Testosterone, will improve muscle mass and strength, does not necessarily give the bloated look. Almost all bodybuilders will stack this with other steroids, but every cycle will contain testosterone, (the old saying "test is best"), this could be used by fighters if monitored correctly with sufficeint anti estrogens.
There are other drugs such as equipose and anavar which again could give the desired effects a fighter would want, especially with var.
The thing is, depending on what ester the steroid is made with, will depend on how quick the steroid is in the system, and out the system. Esters such as Acetate and Propionate are in your system in a matter of hours, and out within 48 hours, you will not test positive two weeks after your last jab. So if you were to take this three months before a fight and got test weeks before a fight, it will not show up. Longer esters such as enanthate and deca will take several months to leave your system.
I don't know too much about steroids in the boxing scene, but I know a LOT of athletes take banned substances, its only the ones who get caught that get slated. There's an interesting documentary called "Bigger, Faster, Stronger" that might be on youtube, which is interesting. It's very diffciult and can be expensive to test for banned substances. Especially with regards to human growth hormone.
A lot of people are very ignorant regarding steroids, due to the medias portrayal of them. And although I DO NOT commend using them in a sport where they are banned, I know they are not necessarily dangerous, if used in safe amounts with correct PCT and AI's etc. Certainly not as dangerous as binge drinking on a weekend for example.#
I'd like to think in professional boxing there isn't a lot of drug use but in other sports there is and always will be.

You can;t magically look at blood or urine and know whats in it. You have to test for each individual drug. Whether its, testosterone levels, cocaine or cannabis etc. They are all separate tests.

According to the the Uk anti doping body it does happen sometimes, if they do routine tests on a range for reaearch whilst only needing certain ones for prosecution.Wa1nuts wrote:It is not the case.bripez wrote:This is a good point.safeerah wrote:also if the body is just testing for PED's and cocain is found,

The more I read, the more I am coming to believe that the war on doping in sports was lost a long time ago. Anyone much up on virally-induced gene-doping, fer instance?

Liek I said "super steroid" is taking it a bit far, buts it appears the one of choice for general use at the moment.
Winstrols are very popular for athletes arent they? Although am I right in saying the tablet steroids are more dangeous than jabs unless you're living clean on them?
I'd certaianrly be speaking to someone who knows their apples before taking anything like that. I see a lot of lads in the gym taking them after taking advice form one another.

It's hard for me to say exactly what athletes would take. Winstrol has very lean effects and will increase strength, but winny alone will not cause massive strength increases and is known to "dry out" your joints, causing injuries.
Oral steroids (tablet form) such as winstrol (an even the injectable winny for that matter), have to pass through your system twice. They have basically been altered chemically. Your liver would break them down so that they are not absorbed in to your system, therefore they are altered (known as 17aa steroids), so the liver attempts to break them down, cannot do it, then they pass through the system again and are broken down. By this time the steroid has been absorbed. The problem with this is that its is obviosuly damaging your liver. Some people will drink loads and sniff whatever whilst they are on it and therefore damage their liver further. Oral steroids should NOT be taken more than 6 weeks at a time
Would defo recommend talking to people who know theyre stuff first, the internet is also a very good source of info for steroids. You could damage yourself otherwise. But to be fair, if you take moderate amounts for a moderate length of time and evaluate estrongenic effects and use nolva or adex etc. to combat these and have a good PCT then in my opinion they are not very dangerous.
The effects on the mind must be considered aswell, and Im not talking about "roid rage" as the media have branded it. I'm talking about depression when you come off and yuou have no testosterone in your body because your balls have shut down, and have high estrogen.

I've seen lads"rugby players" in weight gym take one called halotestin on a four week course no size increase but the increase in weight they were lifting in space of a week was unbelievable
