He more fight in him than almost any fighter in history. Styles change, training methods change and I'm sure if Dempsey had grown up in the 80's and trained at the Kronk of 5th Street, his style would have been different. I only wish there was footage of a lot of Dempsey's pre-title fights - although not the fights he threw.

Are you sure about 'the kids of today'? Last I heard, the mexicans, Colombians, Philippines etc have some very hungry 'kids' who become fighters.

He is a legendary fighter. With a left hook as good as anyone's in history. One of the top punchers of all-time. An excellent defence for a come-forward fighter...

neither cab calloway or satch appear in that photo - Dempsey was a real animal in the ring, a left hook every fighter dreams about and a very intimidating presence. better than average skills - I rank him around top 15 of all heavyweights. and the guy was a star of that great era of the united states. if I had a time machine...

I think he was referring to people growing up here in America. Ever since WW2, and especially during and after Korea and Vietnam, it seems the culture became more the entitlement nation--- and you seldom do see people have to get out of their comfort zones and strive for something. You see this especially among the heavyweights here in the States.
