Japanese boxer has his loss turned around on appeal .

Has this happened before ? I always thought once a decision was made that was it.

Japan boxer Shimzu lost to Azerbaijan boxer Abulhamidov, after Shimzu had knocked his opponent down 5 times in the last round and Abulhamidov had also recieved a 2 point penalty, Shimzu had trailed his opponent by 12-5 going into the last round, but only won the last round 12 - 10, not enough to win the fight. How is this possible ? Why was not the fight stopped in the last round ? The referee funny enough was from Turkministan, he will be getting investigated and possibly banned.

In Pro boxing the referees Decision is final, not sure about the Am's (Obviously not)!!

I don’t know, I would imagine it possibly has, since RJJ was robbed did they not look at this because of possible corrupt judges.

I watched this fight and technically it was piss poor other than the first round knock down. The Japanese fighter will not go far although he deserved the win for the entertainment value.

The Iranian that got thrown out in round 2 after leading was a farce, he was deducted points about 3 times in the same round.

I think this fight was over turned because the Japanese boxer scored 3 knock downs that wern't counted, so really he should of won by stoppage.
I can't remember the last time an actual decision was over turned

Delighted with the decision. Watched last night and the last round was bad, the favourite was either dragging the Japanese fighter to the canvas or getting put on his arse (mainly out of exhaustion). He'd won the first couple of rounds and the fight looked over, the Japanese man showed an excellent heart but the ref stole his glory with pedantry and ineptitude.

TBH I think the irony is lost in that Shimizu had very controversially beaten Dogboe in his first bout...
