comparing Hide and Haye

Haye, whilst overrated I think, has KOd a lot of live bodies in 50/50 fights.

When did Hide ever beat a live body? He never did it, and lost in pathetic, way below world class performances vs Bowe, Klitschko, and lets not forget Joe Chingangu.

Haye for me. Regardless of who they fought and when, it comes down to could Hide take Hayes power. It would just be a matter of time till one of Davids bombs landed and then its goodnight sweet prince. I don't think Hide would get to him before the inevitable happened. Hide would also be aware of Hayes power which would make him apprehensive about going on the offensive. Hayes to good a boxer and would just draw him in and dispatch him inside 4 Imo.

I really don't see how Hide deals with Haye's jab or power. I can certainly see Hide stunning and shaking Haye up early on, but as pointed out by loaded_gloves, Haye is rather dangerous himself when hurt. On the subject of chin, let's not forget that Haye has taken flush right hands from Vladimir Klitschko; Hide's eyes were in orbit from a JAB from Vitali. Hide certainly could have done more in the game and I wish he'd had a proper run at cruiserweight, but I struggle to see what he could possibly do with Haye bar maybe hurt him early.

Hide would be lucky to see round 3, he was a two time paper champion who fell apart everytime he was hit back. One of the worst WBO imposters of the 90's, and that's quite a statement. Vitali decked him with a shot to the shoulder. And his legs turned to jelly in the Bowe fight, from a clinch. He was essential viewing.

haye easy! hide was dangerous but he was taken apart with alarming ease whenever he went in with anybody with real class! sometimes you had to watch the replays several times to see if some of those shots from bowe even landed

Both men achieved their goal of being 'world' heavyweight champion, both were small at the weight. both can bang and both have slightly questionable chins.

personally... i think my money would have been on hide, controversial i know but at his peak i feel he might have put haye away. i dont think hide ever got the recognition he deserved, we cant say that haye fought a higher calibre of opponent than hide.

what do you fellas think?

Hide collapsed like a sack of potatoes any time he got hit on the chin despite his heart.
Haye is a far far better boxer, far quicker. I think Haye puts him away in 5. a no brainer for me and Im one of Hides biggest fans

I agree, though both are very aggressive and can punch, Hide was a beast and had a better chin then Haye, he throws more punches and has fought people like Riddick Bowe and Vitali when he was younger, he also stopped world champions.

Yeah and Bowe made him into roadkill and a young raw Vitali took him apart with ease... The Wlad that Haye fought would also have knocked Hide out in 4.

These 2 are as different as they are similar, if that makes any sense. D

Power; I'd give the edge to Hide on that one. Hide was a ferocious puncher for someone so small at the weight (ask Riddick Bowe). Haye can bang too, but I do think his power at heavyweight is slightly overrated.

Speed; I give that one to Haye, although Hide could be quick, he sometimes didn't use his speed to its full extent.

Chin; I'd give that one to Haye, although that is not saying much, as Hide could be knocked over by a gust of air (ask Riddick Bowe).

Haye is no George Chuvalo, but I think his chin is more sturdy than Hide's.

Stamina; toss up on that one, as neither rate too highly in that department

Overall, I think Haye has the better ring smarts & he learnt a lot from his Thompson defeat.

It's not an easy hypothetical to call, but I'd say Haye KO6 Hide, although it wouldn't surprise me if the result went the other way emphatically.
