Friday night at the YDI Wool Warehouse Albuquerque boxing fans were treated to an all-local line-up of solid matches on Chavez Promotions’ second installment of “Warehouse Rumble.” In the main event Josh “Pitbull” Torres (8-2-1, 4 KO’s) won a split decision against game Joe “Ironman” Gomez (18-7-1, 8 KO’s) of Aztec, N.M., with scores of 59-55, 58-56 and 55-59 after six explosive rounds. Torres pulled off the win by picking his shots in the last two rounds while Gomez made it all too close by sheer aggression.
In the co-main, Las Vegas’ Arturo “Toro” Crespin (7-2, 2 KO’s) bullied his way to a unanimous decision win against tough Albuquerquean Nazareth Rojas (6-7-1, 2 KO’s) with scores of 58-56 and 59-55 twice in a six round junior middleweight contest.
In a rematch from a few months ago, Albuquerque’s Cristian Cabral (4-0, 3 KO’s) won by TKO before the start of the third round against Roswell fighter Michael Herrera (0-2). The contest was stopped due to a cut over the right eye of Herrera caused by a punch.
Albuquerque heavyweight Fernando Reyes (2-1) was unable to KO his much lighter opponent in Roswell’s debuting Guto Feliciano (0-1), but took a unanimous decision win with scores of 40-35 and 39-36 twice.
In a four round lightweight bout Roswell’s John Herrera (3-3-1, 1 KO) TKO’d his last minute opponent Antonio Garcia (1-2) at 2:36 of the last round.
