No John Henry Lewis wasn't one of the top 100 heavyweigths of all-time. He was a great light-heavy, but didn't do anything exceptional at heavyweight at all.Rory McCloskey wrote:ok so jh lewis art lasky max baer tommy farr.... they arent top 100?Ambling Alp wrote:However, there is no way he is in the top 30 either. A guy that won less than 2/3 of his fights and only one win against a heavyweight who is in the top 100 can't rated that good.
I think he is probably around #60.
and name the 60 ahead of him.. you pulled that one out of your arse
No Art Lasky isn't one of the top 100 either. He has no big wins at all. He got Ko'5 times, including to journeyman like Jack roper and ford Smith. He had draws with Tom Patric, Al rogers, Moon mullins, and Harold Murphy. none of these guys even had winning records.
Tommy Farr had a few nice wins but overall his record isn't anything great. It would be a stretch to rank him in the top 100 heavyweights.
Max Baer is the only guy in the top 100 that Braddock did beat.
Since you wanted 60 guys better than Braddock, here is a list, not necessarily in order.
1. Ali. 2. Louis 3.Foreman 4. Johnson 5. Frazier. 6. Tunney 7. Holmes 8. Marciano 9.Dempsey. 10. Holyfield 11.Lewis 12. Bowe 13. Tyson 14. Liston. 15. Jeffries 16. Charles 17. Walcott 18. Corbett 19. Patterson 20. Wills 21. Langford 22. Jeanette 23. McVey 24. Norton 25. Schmeling 26. Jack Sharkey 27. Fitzsimmons 28. Moorer 29. Michael Spinks 30. Buster Douglas 31. Tucker 32. Witherspoon 33. Thomas 34.Mercer 35. V. Klitscho 36. Tubbs 37.Smith 38. Terrell 39. Baer 40. Dokes 41. Johnannson 42.
Machen 43. Folley 44. Ellis45. Quarry 46. McCall 47. Page 48. Tate 49. Williams 50. Coetzee 51. Byrd 52. Burns 53. Snipes 54. Weaver 55. Choynski 56. Bruno 57. Carnera 58.Berbick 59. Hart 60. Peter Jackson
Of course you could argue that Braddock was better than a few of these guys, but there are a few others that you could put ahead of Braddock.
Every guy on this list has a better record than Braddock and every one has more big wins that Braddock.
None had near the amount of losses to journeyman.

i dont know how the hell he got a title show but he made a good showing for only lasting 1 round. he had a hell of a left hook, and nearly put louis on his ass, hurt him badly before louis recoverd and knocked him out.journeyman like Jack roper
roper was one of those guys that started the trend bum of the month club.
