A real shame, he's a good fighter. He won't get better by not fighting; I don't understand what's happening to British boxing.

I spoke to Bob Shannon about Vassell's lack of fights, when we went to spar with Matthew Hatton, he told me he had not fought due family problems.

I'd heard he had some personal/family issues.

Hope him Vs Purdy is made - wouldn't mind seeing that again.

Well hope Vassell has got himself sorted now, he's said in the past that he gets bad nerves before a fight, so a long lay off might not help him.

Terry Dooley did an interview with bob the other day on BS (or whatever - sorry tel). Shannon mentioned vassel.

As a side terry is the worse person ever to navigate you round his home city. i picked him up in a car and when i said "right mate how do i get to olivers from here (his house)" he responded "ive no idea unless we take the bus route, never gone there direct, always got two buses" so we drove the bus route which included " think its a left here, i dont really pay much attention just know where to get off."

Top lad mind. Once fell asleep with terry and woke up with a polish cleaner shouting no sleep and an italian bloke in between us.

Me and Terry almost got killed in Germany when we went to watch Klitschko v Chagaev (.... we forgot that the cars drive on the wrong side of the road and nearly got run over). I thought my sense of direction was bad but us two combined was a recipe for disaster. We almost missed the fight due to us catching the wrong train and then he couldn't find his hotel on the way back.

As for Denton, I hope he sorts out his personal issues and returns to a lively Welterweight scene. I would like to see him face Frankie Gavin sometime soon.

Out of financial necessity.

You will find that the majority of pro's have day jobs - it doesn't mean that they aren't serious just that they will also have bills to pay.

You forget on the way back finding probably the only street in London with a locked gate. Ah the memories.

He does, you could say that he is the British version of Calvin Brock.
