Hi Sean
Not sure if there is an age limit (other than having to be 18).
A 4 rd fight for someone on debut with no recognition might get $200, which would barely cover expenses.

Fidel is in pretty poor health these days.
The first step for your friend would probably be to find an honest trainer to assess his ability. Maximum age for boxers vary from State to State. He could find who regulates boxing in his state and phone them to ask what the limit is in that state.

Re: is their an age limit for a profighter in australia
1000 bucks for a 4 rounder is usually the going rate. Could get a bit more on a big card but depends on the promoter.
Re: is their an age limit for a profighter in australia
thanks guys he is 43 it is a bucket list thing for him .. he would fight at light heavy or crusier abilty wise he held his own with guys HE Sparred with can someone recomend me a good gym in western sydney seven hills/blacktown area whear a guy off street can train along side some pro's to see if he has got it.
Re: is their an age limit for a profighter in australia
At 43 he'll be pushing his luck to get a licence in NSW. However, he can register in Victoria, which will solve the problem
Re: is their an age limit for a profighter in australia
not sure about this one,i"ve seen some of these corporate bouts get out of hand with 50-55 year olds get carried away and maybe it"s time the lines were drawn for the sake of all involved.good question mate.maybe this could bring some needed improvements.
Re: is their an age limit for a profighter in australia
good answers think you covered it all
imo 4 rounds would $200 a round = $800, your friend could try a deal with a promoter with ticket sales and make some more $
43 mmm I agree with find an experienced trainer and start training, sparring and see how he goes, 43 for 1st fight ever (?) and in the pro s is a big step, too old to fight ameteur in AABL anyway, may be have a couple of corporate boxing bouts
sparring is not fighting in the ring in front of a crowd including family and friends,
would be looking to find another 40 odd year old that whats to ticket the box as well
seen one of those on a thai show in Far Far North QLD made a good fight between 2 50 year olds

Or can get 1000 bucks for a 10 rounder on some big cards. Maybe over east they will get more per round than in WA.fox wrote:1000 bucks for a 4 rounder is usually the going rate. Could get a bit more on a big card but depends on the promoter.
Re: is their an age limit for a profighter in australia
$350 per round is the going rate. Naturally, guys that put bums on seats get more.

3k is the minimum requirement under ANBF rules. However, negotiations between 2 parties is another story. Bums on seats ultimately rule.the rocket wrote:Mate whats the going rate for a Aus title now these days because i know a former title holder that make his vacant due to that he was offer around 3k to defend hisDa Voice wrote:$350 per round is the going rate. Thats pretty harsh. I haven't been paid less than 1000 for a 4 rounder. A boy i took to Kalgoorlie got a fair bit more than that for 4 rounds.the rocket wrote:Or can get 1000 bucks for a 10 rounder on some big cards. Re: is their an age limit for a profighter in australia
I don't think, in this politically correct world, that age should come in to it, that's blatantly ageist! As for purse, agreeing with most in the know on here, anything from a couple of hundred per round scheduled to $100 a minute scheduled seems par for the cours, more if you take the fight on short notice against the promoter's boy or can move a lot of tables/tickets.
Re: is their an age limit for a profighter in australia
I was in my early 20s when I boxed. I could not have contemplated in starting out in something that hard at 43. By that time I was too old for football.
Re: is their an age limit for a profighter in australia
At 43...Golf is the go, followed by Lawn Bowls

As usual your wrong again?
He's too old for NSW, Victoria and WA, But just go register up in Queensland, they accept almost anyone up here?? but leave the walking frame out front as you apply, ha-ha.
He should be ok at 43 years old, going on past performance, they will cop anyone, just agree to buy their rules book, pay $20 and your in like flynn
NEXT????
Re: is their an age limit for a profighter in australia
There's no age limit in Victoria....nor is there Standing 8-count, which you frequently insert in Boxrec results.kylamy wrote:Da Voice wrote:At 43 he'll be pushing his luck to get a licence in NSW. However, he can register in Victoria, which will solve the problem

No need to read it fool, but If you check anyway, there is absolutely nothing in the Victorian rules and regulations that says there is No Standing 8 count
And as a matter of fact, if you join the Qld branch, You must purchase a rule book, Qld rules, not National body rules. Has been for yonks, but you would not know that, cos your not welcome to their meetings and haven't been for many years, ha-ha ha.
Wonder where all the funds go, for the rules books? who knows??
Re: is their an age limit for a profighter in australia
According to Victorian ring officials, there ain't Standing 8 count. You stated that yourself in this forum after Tasmania August 2011 stuff-up.kylamy wrote:Da Voice wrote:Happy reading Mr Bradley http://www.anbf.org/attachedfiles/66_1- ... une_11.pdf

ANBF National rules are Qld rules - Check the logo at the top. Naturally, I don't attend meetings....I was kicked out 10 years ago just like you last year.

Wrong again Sunshine?
The ANBF rules are Qld rules, only when it suits Qld. No need to check the logo at the top, I know what i am talking about, shame you only pretend to.
If their rules are National Body rules? and they adhere to them, then answer this?
The National uniform is Blue shirt, Black Slacks and shoes OK?
But in Qld, they wear Black shirt ? they're breaking their rules and why? because they get paid by a sponsor to do so,
No Sadsak, Qld run their own race and do what Qld want, whether it's right or wrong
Just FYI, I was never kicked out of the branch, I voluntarily resigned earlier this year, But you, they told you where to go after just one meeting, so that says a lot about you doesn't it.
I recall you sooked and sooked about it, until recently, when you started sucking up to your only 2 mates in the world, who feed you with false info and use you to distribute that info,
Sad thing is, you think they actually like you??? Yeah right, not from what ive heard and seen first hand, come on in spinner?
