Neither do I think the house ref would have to cook up a stoppage. Toney was being tagged left right and centre by Lebedev and shouldve been stopped in that one, really. Fury, if nothing else, is an 18st heavyweight with a decent dig. I guess Toney would bamboozle the big man for 4 or 5 until he started to tire.

Im torn whether its something I want to see. As a contest (in my opinion) its a complete mismatch - but its James Toney ffs.

I'm going to be honest it wouldn't surprise me if this happened Toney is a name and offers no threat to Fury. I've said this before Fury will be fighting opponents of a similar calibre until the Klitschkos retire. Fury has looked decent recently but he is still very suspect to being flattened by a fighter of a similar size with a good right hand cough David Price cough cough.

For me he should be looking to establish himself at European level a fight with someone like Helenius would be ideal.

I like Fury and like the way he is doing it the old skool way, willing to fight name americans..on terrestrial tv. I loved his line about "toney should have retired 10 years ago"....probably not quite as during 2003-2006 Toney was imo a very very good HW and would have beaten Wladimir in that time with his defence, skill and underrated HW power..the Toney who lost to Lebedev and of recent vintage isnt 20% even of the HW of 2005....and that HW of 2005 wasnt 75% of the 160 lb toney!!

Should be a good name win for Fury and a stoppage!

Toney didn't win a round against Denis Lebedev and he was lucky to get a decisions over Fres Oquendo and Danny Batchelder in fights that occured four and five years ago respectively. He's now older and fatter, and he won't be competitive with Fury or any heavyweight who is decent by today's standards.

Well I seem to remember them preventing Francois Botha a 6f1 inch 250 pound 40 something Afrikaaner from going in with Fury a few years ago for supposedly diminished skills, only for Botha to go and flatten up and coming South African heavyweight Flo Simba if my memory serves me, so the Board have kind of made a rod for their own backs.

Just who in particular are you refering to in these above statements in this thread. While Tyson Fury has now had 19 professional fights since he turned professional back in 2008 on the undercard of Carl Froch's WBC World title victory of Jean Pascal. He is still only 23 years old, so you can argue that he is still a baby in heavyweight terms as we all know that heavyweights have a habit of peaking late. As for my comments about Fury fighting the old White Buffalo Francois Botha. Here is the evidence that suggests that Hennessy was going to put him with him et al.
