If Joshua wins gold and goes pro who will it be with ?

Post by jessi »

If he wins the London 2012 Olympics i think it's fair to say there's a very good possibility that Joshua will sign a professional contract, for me matchroom are doing the best currently and need a great heavyweight in there stable. Who do you think he will go with ?

Where's the option for a-force promotions? Following on the footsteps of the 2000 Olympic champion can only work out well

He'd be mental to go with anyone but Hearn at the moment

Personally I think the anwser to the thread question is a very obvious one. Hearns has been working with Team GB and getting boxers from Matchroom to spar with Team GB. He has the first choice pick from all these boxers. The power of change is in motion no more does F**** W***** get first pick from Olypians

I was looking back at the old olympians and FWP moved Robin Reid along quite well. World champ before the next olympic games had even started.

Yeah, Reid was shifted pretty quick.

The class of 2008 have been badly mismanaged, every single one of them.

Not sure what any of the promoters have been playing at with them.

Jeffries fought some of the worst opponents I've ever seen, as did Price, whilst Allegedly's lot haven't been nearly active enough.

In the early days they were just on PPV undercards, almost as a side show. Why not actually try and promote them?

Jefferies hands went, Sutherland died, Frankie shot it, DeGale sold out The O2 on PPV with Groves after less than 3 years, Saunders headlined The Royal Albert Hall and i forget what Murray is up to...Price is looking good too after his problem with Hayemaker's TV deals. It will be harder for this lot, they are two different sports. I love Luke Campbell, for instance, but he is too trained in the scoring system to do much as a pro. It probably harmed Amir, too.

I don't see many options for Johua except Hearn. The money and the tv dates have dried up and they weren't great to begin with.

I'm a little supprised no one has gone for hennesey !
He has a ch 5 contract and although he has Tyson fury we all know that could come to an end if he gets knocked out badly when he finally steps up.

Khan was out of a vest at 18; one year as a senior. I can imagine that Campbell would find it difficult to adapt but Rigondeaux coped brilliantly after 300 amateur bouts; do you think Lomenchenko would wreck havok as a pro or is his style too suited for the computer?

I think lomachenko makes a very good pro, a complete natural, could give any light weight in the world a good fight right now, may need 2 years or so to get up to the 12 round standard though !

Lomenchenko would be ok, class act. Same with Rigondeaux, but you are talking of two of the best ever.

Anyone else reckon that, given his age and limited boxing experience, it might be better for Joshua's development to stay in a vest a little longer?

And what system is possibly coming into Rio 2016 again ?

And that will benefit Pro Boxing. Dont see what bearing that has on any argument i have towards the detriment of am boxing in this country....

Rightly or wrongly I'd guess that Eddie Hearns will have first pick of all the Olympians.

My point is mickey, whether Campbell is too trained he has no choice but to adapt to a new system.

Over to BBC presenter and newly discovered boxing fan Manish Bhasin, who launches into a 3 minute monolgue, desperately trying to give the impression he likes the sport, and actually knows anything about it at all. But ends up showing he'd only first heard of it when he googled it a few weeks ago.
